Overview

Sherlock Holmes's beloved detective stories all have their origin in notes taken by Holmes's friend and biographer, Dr. John Watson. Now, fans can peek at this precious preliminary material, from letters to newspaper articles. The scrapbook includes Watson's sketches of the paw prints discovered near the body of Sir Charles Baskerville; the address label from the gruesome parcel sent to Susan Cushing in “The Adventure of the Cardboard Box”; and Holmes's final, heartrending letter to Watson before his violent struggle with Moriarty in “The Final Problem.” All of the items are reproduced as genuine historical artifacts, complete with tears, stains, folds, and handwritten annotations—and 18 of them are in special “evidence” bags on the page, so you can remove them for a close-up look.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
"The Hound of the Baskervilles"; "A Scandal in Bohemia"; "The Red-Headed League"; "The Boscombe Valley Mystery"; "The Dancing Men"; "The Final Problem." Even after more than a century, these six superb Sherlock Holmes tales arrest our attention. One of the secrets of their appeal, of course, is that they place us in the Downing Street setting, challenging us to test our Holmesian deductive skills against those of the master himself. That challenge becomes even more palpable when the pieces of evidence become real, as they do in this simulated crime case file, complete with evidence bags containing facsimile letters, confessions, photographs, other documents, and Dr. Watson's confidential reports to his Baker Street confidant.

    Solve the case!

The book helps you know the details of Sir Arthu Conan Doyle's most famous detective so that your can follow the cases of six of Sherlock's stories. The fine detail this author gives to Dr. John Watson's letters on original papers from that period allows you to be part of the solving of the crimes. There's a bonus too: Irene Adler's picture!

Important collector's item for Holmes' fans

This collection from the case files of Dr. Watson is a 'must have' for any serious Holmes fan. Included are notes and artifacts from A Scandal in Bohemia, The Red-Headed League, the Boscombe Valley Mystery, The Dancing Men, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Final Problem. The material is a ticket to the London of Holmes, and the trip is one that can be enjoyed again and again. Highly recommended.
