Táin Bó Cúailnge

Traditionally set in the first century A.D., the ancient Irish epic tale of Táin Bó Cúailnge, or The Cattle-Raid of Cualnge, is the central story of a group of tales known as the Ulster Cycle, which are contained in medieval manuscripts.

Related primarily in prose, it tells of a war against Ulster by the Connacht queen, Medb, and her husband, Ailill. Their armies were defeated single-handedly by that greatest of Irish mythological heroes, Cuchulainn, the son of the god, Lug, and Deichtine, the sister of Conchobar mac Nessa. It was prophesied that his great deeds would give her great fame, but that his life would be short.

This edition of The Cattle-Raid of Cualnge is specially formatted with a Table of Contents and pictures of Ireland and characters from Irish folklore.
