Children's LiteratureAs author Schnakenberg writes, "The Central Division of the National Basketball Association (NBA) is a mix of old and new. Some teams date back to the early days of the NBA, like the Detroit Pistons. Others, such as the Chicago Bulls, entered the league in the 1960s....It's a division of great old rivalries and new, emerging ones." As with the other books within the "Above the Rim: The NBA Library" series, Schnakenberg begins by providing the reader with a summary of the teams that comprise the Central division. Yet, he emphasizes one thing. The Central division has had some amazing basketball champions. Anyone one who knows sports will recognize Michael Jordan and his contribution to the game. Schnakenberg also reminds us that this division gave rise to many stars within the NBA. Unlike some of the other books in the series, this is an exciting book. It is a great book for any young fan of basketball. Photographs and sidebars adorn the book. It also includes an index, glossary, and pages of facts as well as of additional resources. 2004, The Child's World Inc, Ages 8 to 13.
