Overview

At the end of their initial investigation, which brought The Charon Unit together, Rico and his team discovered the Down South Riders were considerably better organized than was initially thought. The Charon Unit found the D.S.R. had their hands in racketeering, murder, fraud, credit card fraud, narcotics trafficking, and weapons dealing. Rico and the team managed to identify a number of foot soldiers and found one of the higher ranking members of the D.S.R. was identified as Thomas Glen Bonnet or T-Bone. The Charon Unit lost a few of their members at the end of their two year investigation and during their briefing with their superiors in Washington D.C. Rico and the team were instructed to fly to Chicago to try to track down Thomas Glen Bonnet, a.k.a. T-Bone. Rico and the team were also instructed to continue learning as much as they could in their investigation.

Rico, Rob and the team land in O'Hare International Airport in Chicago while B.S. and his crew were driving the vehicles and equipment to their new base of operation. Rico and Rob quickly ascertained their vehicles were not suitable for narrowed roads of Chicago. Rico and Rob also learned that Chicago is the where the shots are called for Down South Riders around the nation.

Rico and the team have to locate T-Bone and interrogate him for as much intelligence as they can learn. They have to operate unnoticed, while in Chicago, and ascertain who put the mass homicide in motion that caused the forming of the Charon Unit. These are all good plans, BUT as we know...NOTHING ever goes according to plan. Saddle up with Rico, Rob, and the Charon Unit for a high octane, magazine fed, butt-kickin' good time that will LEAVE you wanting to read MORE!!!

Meet the Author

Rick served in the U.S. Army, right out of high school, at the age of 17 from 1990 - 1993. Once he got out of the Army, Rick went into the University of Houston - Downtown Criminal Justice Center (Class #105) for a 530 training hour course to become a Texas law man. Rick graduated in August 1993 and by November 1993 he became the 7th generation, native Texan lawman in the White Family as he had been hired by the Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 5. Rick worked as a Patrol Deputy on every shift H.C.C.O. Pct.5 offered and worked accidents, conducted traffic stops, and made arrests. He left there and became an Officer, in June 2001, for the Metropolitan Transit Authority Police Department in Houston, Texas. While at METRO P.D. Rick investigated accidents, trained newly hired officers, made arrests, was trained by the F.B.I. as a forensic sketch artist, and assisted the Detectives' Bureau as the departmental sketch artist. Rick left METRO P.D. and became a Deputy Sheriff in June 2006 for the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office in Richmond Texas. Rick was promoted to Detective two months later and was assigned to the Fort Bend County Gang Unit where he investigated gangs, interviewed gang members, and filed numerous gang related cases against gang members.

To date Rick has trained over 4,000 law enforcement professionals all over Texas on three different gang courses he wrote and created.

I just completed Rick's second book in the Charon Unit series - "Slicin' the Pie Chicago Style." I will admit that It was hard to put the book down at times. The book's story-line flowed flawlessly from start to finish which helped in maintaining ones interest in his characters both criminal and law enforcement. Knowing Rick White personally you might say I have a biased opinion. But if you like story-lines about law enforcement and its inner workings, cops and bad guys, I recommend that you read the Charon Unit series. I think you will enjoy them just as much as I have. Congratulations Rick and I look forward to book 3.

Rick White has outdone himself. This time he has delivered a product that, I dare say, is leaps and bounds better than the first. Rick's hard hitting raw story takes a new venture to Chicago and his writing has also taken off. In this installment he pulls out all the stops so you get more of the characters you love and the action you crave in a way that resembles prose from a decorated author as opposed to one that just put out his second novel. This begs the question, if he improved his writing style this much what can we expect for the third and final chapter. Four words: New York Times Bestseller.

Great book, easy and exciting read. Better than book #1. As an LE officer it was real I like to call it historically based fiction.
