I read this book when I was in high school and was instantly captivated by the stories of Northern lore. I recommend this book for those who are new to Norse mythology or simply love to study the stories

The arena is a sunken hollow in the ground with stone bleachers ringing the circular pit. The outside of the pit is sand with straw dummies and weapon racks lining the wall. In the center, a lush, dense garden hides summoned monsters and opponents. Spruce trees shadow hornet nests and buckets of hot water. Poison ivy shrouds bushes. Swinging logs attack unwary people and fog makers create a thick cloud throughout the mini forest.
