Overview

Following the events in Forgotten Place, Helen has little time to mourn losses and misfortunes - and her role in the carnage -before a massive amount of human blood is found in an equipment storage chest back stage at a New Year's Eve concert.

After a brief search, a young woman's body is discovered, only she isn't what she appears to be at first glance. As Helen debates her need for involvement in the investigation, Johnny Orion seems determined to prove that he's still the state's top cop - with or without all of his recent memories intact. Yet Helen's the one doubting her abilities before long when a case she thinks is cut-and-dried takes a sudden turn into chaos and unexpected victims start piling up.

When two victims are undeniably related to Detective Crevan Conall, Helen realizes her error, that the personal tragedies around her resulted in missing an important clue, one that solves the case. A surprising twist in the end serves Helen's warped sense of justice, which cannot run parallel with the law this time.

I have read 1-4 in this series and must confess that I have spent considerable time debating with myself over over or not this writer is good or bad due to the fact that she has made me want to throw my Nook down and stop reading at the antics of her characters! I finally decided that a writer that could bring a character to life enough for me to be exasperated with the character's behavior, and is so "alive" to me that I shake my head at her (Helen) everytime she does soemthing I dont like, is in fact, a TERRIFIC writer, better than most in my opinion. This writer hasmade her lead character, Helen, so vivid in my mind that, like Johnny Orion ( ther lead character and Helen's love interest), I too "know" her thoroughly! I hope to see more in this series, I would pay to read them and am stunned that a writer of this caliber is giving the books away in Nook version for free...in my opinion, these are TV series material..Excellent, wonderfully written with intriging plot line that always surprises! Best written works I have read in a long time and I love to read! I will "miss" these characters if nothing else is written in this series! A+ and worth the read!

The awesomeness continues! Devlin dares Helen to attend a New Years Eve rock concert with him to help her keep her mind off Johnny. Right after Helen admitted she loved him, Johnny lost his memory of the last six months including his time with her. As they wait for the headline band to perform, the off duty detectives get a call to go backstage where they discover an amplifier filled with blood. Thus begins a horrendous case of sex-bias murders, or is it? Too many possibilities and the distraction of dealing with their relationship may be sidetracking Helen and Johnny's work on the case.

Wow! These books just keep getting better and better. About to start the fifth one and dont know whether to hope for an ending or another book. Another book means a wait...an ending means the end):. This author is great and i look forward to more from him/her.

What a great series! I was hooked after the first one. Great characters, great plot. It's hard to put down once you start.

Terrible.  Annoying protagonist and book needs some serious editing.  I would give it less than one star, but that's not possible.  The series became so annoying to me that I found myself becoming angry while reading it.  Seems to have good potential but there are just too many characters and the main character, while supposed to be an intellect, makes the most bizarre choices!  Just doesn't read right.  I'm surprised at how many people love this series.  Maybe I am missing something????

I have read all 8 books in this series. Each book is a stand alone story with a thread that connects each novel together so I would recommend reading them in order as there are references to previous books. Doctor Eriksson progressively grows with each challenge and the main characters grow along side her. I found each book to be well written and well developed. The author does a fine job of wrapping up the story line so there are no loose ends. There are some editing problems but nothing too drastic.

Hard to follow. I did not continue the book after about 5 chapters.

Great series! Each book is as good as the last. I have read all seven and if there are more written, I will be buying them! You feel as if you are right there as you read them. I promise, you will not be able to put them down!!

I have now read the first three and while I like the series I too get frustrated over Helen's antics. They are sooo cliche and unbelievable that someone of Helen's education background and training still falls into the female who get's into trouble by going rouge . Too hard to believe and so not worthy of this writer or this character. I want to keep reading this series but I find that I am groaning and fast forwarding through pages upon pages of the story when this character goes off on her own to do something. It reminds me of a female character who goes off into the haunted woods to follow her lost dog but seemingly forgets t that there is a serial killer on the loose.  There is so much meat here for this character's and secondary characters story line, she has great  plot twists and  great dialogue but arrrrrgh !!! is it frustrating.Erickson could be a Cornwell's Scarpetta or Robb's Dallas but at this rate she is a discounted version of those strong type of female leads.  I want to keep reading the stories because they are good  but I wish  this writer would stop this because I just dont know how much more I can swallow. I really want to give it a four but I will do 3.7

Wow! What a series! A flawed heroine full of contradictions and guilt. Plots filled with twists and turns. I can' believe all five books are free. I can't wait to start the fifth.

Jeez. I am skipping pages and pagrs just to get thru. I mean a detective that holds like your next door neighbor's 12 year old conversation. Waste of my time.

Neanderthal Johnny is baaack! Ugh... I enjoyed the mystery in this one, as I have in the others, but Helen and Johnny's emotional instabilities and juvenile antics almost ruined it for me. I still don't understand the back story on Helen's dad... or maybe it was glossed over in a previous book and I was so busy thinking Helen was a psycho (still do) that it didn't register with me. Still, the books are pretty well-done, and I am  reading the next one now.
