Rubinstein Chopin collection, a great bargain

Rubinstein was a grand master of the piano, and a very famous interpreter of Chopin's music. For those who follow the Penguin Guide, several of his Chopin recordings have been `Rosettes' in the past including the Nocturnes. This album includes virtually his entire solo piano output for RCA as well as the Piano Concertos which have been at the top of the charts for years. Some of these recordings have been recently remastered and have been reissued as SACD's, but in general the recordings here are very good, and at little more that $2 a disc it is a great bargain. This set is different than the large box sets that are issued today in that it comes in a box with three multiple CD cases rather than just inner sleeves, with two boxes holding 4 CD's each and one box of three CD's. The individual boxes do not have notes, but the set comes with a significant booklet (60pages) with full discussions of the works. I recommend the set without reservation to anyone who wishes to explore Chopins' great works by one of the most melodic of interpreters of the piano.
