I sincerely hope that the paper's association with The Church of Jesus Christ, Scientist doesn't turn people away from what is arguably the most fair and balanced paper I've read. The CSM doesn't rely on AP or Reuters articles, it doesn't endorse political candidates, and the single essay on religion that appears in every issue - at the behest of the paper's founder, Mary Baker Eddy - is actually quite insightful and not preachy. At $10/month (the paper is published on weekdays only), you'd be hard pressed to find a better newspaper on the Nook. I enjoyed reading the NYT while I had it, but the paper's refusal to give Nook subscribers access to unlimited articles on the website - at an exorbitant $20/month - is ludicrous.

Great newspaper! My work deals international relations and I need to keep up on current events. The Monitor is more expansive than The Week and more readable than the Economist. Only issue is that the e version has typos frequently.

Today's edition had exactly 1 news story in the Business section. It was about dog food. Really? Absolutely nothing happened in the business world over the weekend except dog food?

I have subscribed to the CS Monitor for many years and cannot imagine having to do without it! Since I am not a globe traveler, this newspaper is invaluable to give me insights into countries, geography, peoples, histories, problems, etc., in an inciteful way so that I can think and evaluate clearly and concisely. By thinking and reaching an understanding, I can get rid of predjudices, fears, false reports in order for me to be a better citizen, voter, thinker, pray-er beyond denominational religious beliefs towards a blessing mentality for all citizens of the world under the one God. I want to be a part of the solution regarding the world -- not a part of the problem. This newspaper enables me to do this. Over 100 years ago, when this newspaper was founded by Mary Baker Eddy, for people to do just what I am doing today - pray for the world, for ourselves, for all mankind. This was one of the main goals for its foundation, and through the years it has lived up to its consistently prize-winning and unbiased reporting.

I gift a relative with CSM who lives in remote area and has limited access to fair and balanced info about the world. She says one of best gifts I could give her.

Love the Monitor-unbiased and balanced. Thoughtful, relevant and uplifting journalism at it's best. I appreciate and applaude the perspectives of the reporters-even those I disagree with. The writing isn't polarizing & more respectful of differences . . .my daughter reads the Monitor because of the variety, creativity and progressive viewpoints. It doesn't make the world seem so 'scary' as many papers seem to do these days. Just love it!

The CS Monitor does a very good job looking at areas that are often ignored by other news outlets until a crisis breaks out there. Then they quote the work already done by the CSM. The Monitor's focus on Third World nations is always interesting and should be required reading for individuals who want to increase their understanding of what is happening in the Third World before a crisis or disaster strikes. It is always useful to hear the information from individuals with a deeper understanding of the local dynamics, and not just the London correspondenct sent in after the fact to report on trouble spots.
