Katya selflessly offers her prized possessiona humble wooden bird whistleto the newborn King and sees her gift transformed into a living, singing creature. Fashioned from familiar elements, this modest tale glistens beneath the snowy blanket that covers Watts's alpine village wonderland. Her candle-lit cottage interiors are cozy as a country quilt. Ages 5-8. (Sept.)
Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
