Overview

The career of towering, handsome actor Christopher Lee has stretched over half a century in every sort of film from comedy to horror. He has assumed such diverse roles as the Man With the Golden Gun, Frankenstein's monster, Fu Manchu, Dr. Catheter (from Gremlins 2) and, most famously, Dracula.

From Corridor of Mirrors in 1948 to Star Wars: Episode II-Attack of the Clones in 2002, this filmography covers 166 of Lee's theatrical feature films in detail. Each entry provides production information, full credits, a synopsis, and a critical analysis of the film and Lee's involvement, with a detailed account of its making and commentary drawn from some thirty hours of interviews with Lee himself. Two appendices list Lee's television feature films and miniseries and Lee's short films, with brief credits and Lee's role in each. Many photographs from the actor's private collection are included.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Christopher Lee has entertained audiences for more than 50 years, as Dracula in Hammer Films and, more recently, as Saruman the White in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings. Johnson (Hammer Films: An Exhaustive Filmography) and Miller (Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing and Horror Cinema: A Filmography of Their 22 Collaborations) have joined forces to present the first filmography of Lee's prodigious output. Each entry includes film credits and a synopsis, along with commentary describing Lee's participation and development as an actor. Enhancing the text are Lee's personal thoughts and black-and-white photos. With forewords by Hammer alumni Jimmy Sangster, actress Veronica Carlson, and director Joe Dante, as well as an afterword by Lee, this is great for fans but not essential for libraries. However, those with a big enough budget may want to indulge because the book collects material that is spread across several other resources.
