Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
If you could invent your own reality, what would it be? In this book, Laura Day guides readers into a realm of wish fulfillment and creative dreaming: The realm of The Circle. In this sacred space, Day explains, we can actually accept our desires, focus on their fulfillment, and change our lives. “Go ahead,” Day urges, “dream what you want. Allow yourself to wish. Allow yourself to feel your hunger. In The Circle, nobody endures hungry.”

Day’s ideas are simple, but they speak to everyone. We all have a secret vision of ecstasy, but we feel helpless to make those visions real. Day insists that her book -- with its exercises, explanations, and visualization techniques -- can help. “By the end of this book, you will be an intuitive, a healer, and the conscious creator of your own reality,” she promises. “You will know that you have achieved mastery by choosing the one thing you want to change and changing it.”

The Circle promises a new reality -- and if anyone can deliver that, it is Laura Day. The bestselling author of Practical Intuition, Practical Intuition for Success, and Practical Intuition in Love, Day has developed an enthusiastic following for her books, magazine articles, and appearances on television. In this book, she completes her course, offering readers home-grown visualization exercises that turn dreams into reality. What dreams would you choose to make real? Readers can find out in The Circle. (Jesse Gale)

The First Element: Intentionality

The "practical" people of the world are quick to dismiss "wishful thinking," and yet the process of creating anything begins with a wish. Wishing focuses our internal resources-intellect, intuition, unconscious drives, and physical and emotional energy-on any creation we choose.
Wishing is the active, engaged sister of fantasy. Our imagination ignites desire and then hunger to initiate the process of change. Without the motivation of desire, without hunger, we would achieve nothing since we would want for nothing. Our hunger drives us in search of nourishment, just as a plant turns toward the sun for more light and deepens its roots for more water.
We experience hunger in many ways. Desire is hunger. Envy is hunger. Loneliness is hunger. Everyone is hungry. Artists are hungry. Students are hungry. Scientists are hungry. Entrepreneurs are hungry. Visionaries are hungry. Humanitarians are hungry. All of us are hungry. Hunger drives us to expand what and who we are.
Yet we often distrust our desires. If we fear we cannot satisfy them, it seems safer to repress our hunger. We have made hunger the enemy, but hunger is life. When we repress, judge, or deny hunger, we deny life.
Do not fear your hungers. They are neither good nor bad. Use hunger as fuel. Use hunger as energy. Guide your hunger. Focus your hunger. Use your hunger for growth. If you do not consciously direct your hunger, your hunger will use you and those around you.
Go ahead-dream of what you want. Allow yourself to wish. Allow yourself to feel your hunger. In The Circle, nobody endures hunger.

When you make a wish, you direct the energy of The Circle. You give yourself-and the universe-a positive focus, a path for energy to travel.
The use of will is the magic wand of human being. Yet very few of us use our wills effectively. Your will organizes and mobilizes all the other energies inside of you and around you into an irresistible force. Your ability to make a choice and stick to it-your will-is your most powerful inner resource.
Since this is your first conscious journey in The Circle, you must focus all of your being on one, single wish.

Take your time now in selecting your wish. Ask yourself many questions. Let your mind run free. Draw up a long list, then narrow it down.
What single change in your life would give you the most joy? What single change would bring you the most relief? What is your biggest concern? What issue do you spend most of your emotional energy on? What lack is the source of your greatest sorrow? What is the one thing that you most envy in others? If you knew you couldn't fail-as if a genie would grant it-what would you wish for?
Keep in mind that a wish need not be "reasonable" or "rational" or "deserved." Nor is a wish a "should" or "must" or a "would have." Your wish now should be the thing you ache for, your soul's deepest need.

You may have many desires, so it may not be easy to decide on just one. For now, though, you must choose just one wish to create as you master the nine elements of The Circle. The Circle is always there to travel again with another wish, but during your initiation, when you are just learning the ways of The Circle, you should focus on a single wish. Otherwise, you may dilute the energy being built up around your primary goal.
As you reach one goal, you will form new ones, and The Circle will help you with all of the mini-goals that arise during the day. Doing one thing well and effectively will positively impact all areas of your life. Also, there is no possibility that you will select the "wrong" goal. Your needs and desires will become clarified within The Circle. If you choose a wish at odds with what you truly want, that wish will evolve to serve the wholeness of your being and your life.
So, what do you wish for right now? Make your wish. One, single wish. Together we will begin to bring your wish to life.

In the past, you may have wished for many things that you did not receive. There is an alchemy of wishing. It's time you learned to wish within The Circle. To do so, you must express your wish in a way The Circle will respond to. The language of The Circle is the present tense.
When someone experiences an event as happening in the future, it does not yet exist for that person. And if something does not yet exist, it is not possible for that person to experience it and change it.
In The Circle, the acts of wishing and receiving are simultaneous; there is no distinction between past, present, and future. The future occurs now. So in The Circle, there is not "I want," but rather "I have." Phrase your wish as if it has already happened.
If you focus on "I want," you direct your inner resources to reinforce wanting rather than having. If you focus on "I have," "I am," "I feel," or "I embrace," your inner resources will find opportunities for this to be true.
So instead of saying, "I wish I would fall in love," within The Circle you say, "I am in love." Instead of saying, "I wish I weren't struggling financially," you wish, "I am earning all the money I want, doing something I love."
Once you wish within The Circle, we call your wish your New Reality because it is already happening, right now.

It is also important to phrase your wish positively, in terms of what you want, rather than negatively, in terms of what you might be trying to avoid. When you wish in the negative, you focus your attention and energy on the very thing you don't want, which directs your unconscious to reinforce it.
Instead of focusing on what is not happening at work, say, focus on creating recognition and success. In doing so, you direct your inner resources to notice opportunities to achieve your goals that you would otherwise have overlooked.
Instead of, "I wish I weren't sick," you say, "I am healthy and full of energy." Instead of saying, "I wish I weren't alone," you say, "I am involved in a loving, committed relationship." Remember always to phrase your wish as if it were already fulfilled.

If your wish is to be heard within The Circle, then, it should be specific, positive, passionate, and present. Wish for one thing at a time, know precisely what you want-and embrace that wish with all your heart and soul as if it has already come to pass. By doing so, you will unleash amazing energies.
State your wish out loud. Now embrace it. You are creating yourself and the world anew.

The First Element is Intentionality

The gift of intentionality is: Conscious Creation

In The Circle below or in your Circle Journal, write your wish in the positive and in present tense. This is what you have chosen to create. When you place your wish in The Circle and in your reality with conscious intentionality, all the gifts of your human being-as well as its connection to all that is-co-create this reality with you.

Your wish is now your New Reality.

A small but extraordinarily powerful book.

What better gift to give those on your holiday gift list than the secrets to making their hearts' desires a reality? It's a tall order, but Laura Day's extraordinarily powerful (and deceptively short 142-page) book THE CIRCLE truly delivers on its promise that 'The Power of a Single Wish Can Change Your Life.' Step by step, Laura takes readers through the process of Initiation (1-Intentionality, 2-Embodiment, 3-Ritual); Apprenticeship (4-Synchronicity, 5-Making Space, 6-Coherence); and Mastery (7-[Overcoming] Outer Roadblocks, 8-[Overcoming] Inner Roadblocks, 9-Contact). This is the perfect gift for anyone you care about whom you'd like to help realize their deepest dreams.

The Potential of a Single Coherent Wish!

The Circle covers material that will seem familiar to those who have read Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich and others), Norman Vincent Peale (The Power of Positive Thinking), Deepak Chopra (Creating Affluence), and Anthony Robbins (Awaken the Giant Within). Readers who found those books helpful will find that The Circle brings their understanding of the power of focus to a new and more refined level. The Circle is especially good for clarifying the psychological states that lead to accomplishing important desires. Although the book refers to concepts that many associate with spiritual beliefs, Ms. Day encourages you to see the book as independent of any particular religion or set of spiritual beliefs. She also says that it is just fine to reframe her words here to fit into your own religious or spiritual beliefs. The book¿s key point is that ¿what you perceive, what you conceive, and what you create are one . . . .¿ The concept is developed in three parts: initiation (¿In your initiation, you discover your one true wish and put it into the language of The Circle.¿), apprenticeship, and mastery. These three parts are broken in turn into a total of nine steps: (1) Intention -- You pick a single wish that is ¿specific, positive, passionate, and present.¿ (2) Embodiment -- You create ¿reality¿ tales and songs, and meditate in ways that make the wish more real to yourself. (3) Ritual -- You follow new rituals that you create to help you achieve your wish and eliminate old habits that would undermine you. (4) Finding Luck (or Synchronicity) -- You learn to look for meaningful coincidences and tap into them. Often, opportunity will look like a problem, a setback, or a distraction. Pay attention! (5) Make Room for Your Wish -- ¿Open your hand and let go of things that you have onto out of habit for years . . . .¿ (6) Achieve Coherence -- Eliminate overt cross-purposes that pull you away from your wish. (7) Eliminate External Roadblocks -- See each one as an ¿inspiring challenge¿ that brings you closer to achieving your wish. (8) Eliminate Subconscious Roadblocks -- Let go of unconscious and outdated wishes, and hidden agendas. In attempting to deal with these other intentions, you may realize that your wish needs to be changed to better reflect what you really want. (9) Create and Expand a Community to Support You -- ¿Give what you have. Ask for what you need.¿ The epilogue is especially good at bringing these ideas together. I especially liked the argument that both the past and the future exist now in the present. By re-examining the past in the present, you can give the past new meaning that can power the future fulfillment of your wish. Each of the nine steps contains assignments to help you apply the book¿s thinking more accurately. I found these assignments to be very brief, but highly effective. As I read the book, I applied its process to one of my favorite wishes. What I realized from this experience is that I have some issues in step 8 that I need to deal with. That was a very helpful insight to me. Prior to reading this book, I would not have realized all of the inner conflicts that I need to resolve before I can make the fullest progress. For me, that was a highly beneficial realization. I have no way of knowing what you will learn, but I suspect that you will gain value from seeing new issues that you can deal with in at least one area. If the book¿s main strength is that it explains the psychological states of implementing intention very well, the book¿s main weakness is that it does not explain all of its concepts. You are left hanging with some of the same statements that bother people who read Napoleon Hill. For example, you are a ¿sender and receiver.¿ I take that to mean that we share our intentions with people, and we receive questions, suggestions, and support that we must be ready to notice and employ. more from this reviewer

This book brought me such peace

I absolutely loved this book. I wish this could be required reading for everyone entering college. This book gave me focus; it brought everything, all my scattered thoughts together and put them in order. As a result, I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This book also made me feel like I was a part of something bigger than just myself. I read this book 6 years ago and have never forgotten it. I had gone through a great tragedy and needed to find some answers about myself. I was in Barnes and Noble and this book caught my eye, I picked it up and it captured my interest with the tagline. It was everyything I was looking for, as far as the written word. Now I give it as gifts. If you are looking for a way to refocus and reframe how you go about accomplishing the things you want in life, then you won't be disappointed in this book.

Another must read from Laura Day! I've read all her books. Our thoughts are our reality. Laura doesn't remember me, but we took a writer's workshop together 10 years ago. Not only is she a gifted healer and intuitive, but she is also a gifted writer with a great wit.

    take this book seriously!

This book is not a bedside story book. It shud be taken very seriously; read thoroughly; digested and then put into practice. Once you make your wish interpret your dreams well and keep a daily log. Be very sure about your wish, give yourself lots of time to make sure its what you want and make sure you do not wish for sth you might later change your mind.

Keep you mind on what you want

I love this book Keep your mind on what you want and take you mind off what you don't wantis the basic message. It's true that if we don't know where we want to go, we'll arrive where we don't want to be. So stay focussed.

A gentle, healing, and magical approach to living.

I have heard, 'you create your own reality' over and over in my many new-age, and metaphysical explorations. Many offer magic without foundation or consideration of what's practical.
Working in The Circle as explained by Laura Day in this book is pure practical magic with foundation. There is NO something for nothing magic in the Circle... there is real magic.
The Circle is a process which is clearly outlined in this book. It is also a living, breathing process by which we can live our lives, and expect support from the universe, and our intuition.
We each create our own realities. The Circle, explains the process behind that statement simply, with more detail, clarity and inclusivness than I've experienced before now. Laura Day offers a simple step by step approach, to working the gifts and abilities we each possess. Creating what you want is not magical at all working with this process, it's very practial. What's magical is the way when working through the steps, the universe aligns behind your efforts, and your intuition focuses on your goal.
Whether you have a big wish, or just a small one, bringing it into The Circle by going through the steps will grow you enough to have it be.
This past weekend, I was faced with an inner challenge (a little wish) with potentially large consequences. As I brought that wish into The Circle, very quickly I realized that I needed support to face the challenge, I first requested support from all of the intuitives at The Practical Intuition Forum. My intuition then revealed to me my oldest friend, whom I hadn't even seen in two years. When I called to ask her to join me & support me, I was amazed to discover we were each going through similar issues, and it seemed highly unlikely she would be able to support me...
I brought all of this back into the steps of the Circle, for more intuition, clarity, whatever...
well guess what!, the universe aligned behind me; although she was not working with the circle, she went into work the next morning and with clarity expressed boundaries on previously 'deaf ears', the pieces fell into place, and was available to join & support me. I put one small wish into the Circle, and both of us experienced healing, growth, and an amazing re-union.
The most amazing synchronicity is that at exactly the time I first called and was leaving a message for her, she was in the location where we first met 20 years ago, and shared with her husband that this was where she met me.
This is just an example of the MAGIC of The Circle.
My recommendation...This book is a KEEPER, BUY IT, READ IT, COMMIT YOURSELF...
...AND WISH AWAY!

    Absolutely Profound, Magical, Blessed, Inspired!

If you have ever wanted to truly make your wishes come into manifestation, The Circle will guide you unerringly through the divine and simple process of making them real. Small Book; Big Ideas

The subtitle, 'How The Power of a Single Wish Can Change Your Life,' says it all. The circle is a place where you align all of your energies (thought, word and deed) and focus them on making your wish come true. Day takes the reader through the three phases of the circle - Initiation, Apprenticeship and Master. Each phase contains three elements or steps to total nine steps in all. Of course, you're never really finished. Once you manifest one wish, you start the process all over again with another wish. What I love about the book is that it gives the reader something to do. After each essay explaining the 'element,' the author gives an action that the reader can do to illustrate concept. Readers are encouraged to live their desired 'New Reality' now. The chapters on inner and outer roadblocks are worth the price of admission. It's refreshing to see an author deal with roadblocks in a manifesting book. Usually, they're glossed over. As for the actual writing, it's a small book and a very, easy read. If you do follow the steps to mastery, your wish (whatever it is)will certainly come true.
