This is no Harry Potter tail! Action, adventure, humor, likeable and believable characters with a progressive story line that pulls you in. Kind of like a cross between Merlin and Ender's Game? Very few typos unlike a lot of Nook Books. I was pleasantly surprised.

Fantastic writing! 600+ pages of action, magic, war, and characters that really grow on you! I can't wait to see what Lae and the others do in the next book!

Got this ebook as a deal and now have purchased next 2 in the trilogy. The main characters are believable as teens. Good story line and action.

I really enjoyed this book. I came across it accidently and I'm glad I did. If you like magic, intrigue, betrayal and the world of medieval times; you would love this book.

This was a great book. Sure at parts it was a little slow but what book doesnt have slow parts. Dont judge the author over these. The author most likely spent months writing this book so give them credit

I liked the story but wasn't crazy about the writing style.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. The beginning started off well and piqued my interest, but as the story continued I enjoyed it less and less. The character development felt odd and cliched and the dialogue seemed forced at times. I also thought the progression was amateurishly written. Still, it was enjoyable, if generic. I'd consider seeing how the plot advances.

Great characters and plot but seemed rushed on the important parts.

A good book for younger readers or those who enjoy the genre and are looking for a way to pass the time. While the plot was interesting more details would have been nice and the pacing of the story could have been done better. It was not uncommon to find great distances or bits of time passing with little detail to accompany it. Additionally the characters growth and/or actions as well as the dialogue and some of the events made it seem a bit too "unrealistic". For example characters might say each other's names more often than would be believable in a normal conversation and sensitive information could be revealed too easily (there's more but I'd like to refrain from giving out too much). If you're used to books with lots of details which flesh out interactions and characters this might not be your cup of tea but it's not terrible either. To conclude my feelings I refer back to my first sentence.

Story skips pages. The while story is there but the length is misrepresented. For example it went from page 627 straight to 629. Needs a bit more development & detail. An example: when making camp the horses need to be cared for. Overall it's a good story however & better written than many I've read lately.
