Children's Literature - Cathi I. White
Want to get kids interested in learning about their bodies? Try this upbeat book on for size. The pictures of real kids will attract the reader's attention. They are interesting, realistic, and colorful. But the way the book is written is what really appeals to the reader. The little tidbits of truthful information that are dispersed throughout the book catch the reader's eye. Information such as how many times a day a heart beats, which side of the heart is bigger, or why doctors are using leeches for medicinal purposes help keep the reader's focus as he reads to find out more fun facts. Children and adults will find out how the circulatory system works through arteries and veins and from head to toe. They will also learn how doing exercise, being sick, getting a cut, and eating the fatty foods can also affect the circulatory system. This educational book helps children understand more about their bodies. There are websites, organizations, and places to visit listed in the back. Teachers would benefit by using this book in science and health classes. This book is part of the "True Book Health and Human Body Series." Reviewer: Cathi I. White
