Evaline Stoker and Mina Holmes never meant to get into the family business. But when you're the sister of Bram and the niece of Sherlock, vampire hunting and mystery solving are in your blood. And when two society girls go missing, there's no one more qualified to investigate. Now fierce Evaline and logical Mina must resolve their rivalry, navigate the advances of not just one but three mysterious gentlemen, and solve murder with only one clue: a strange Egyptian scarab. The stakes are high. If Stoker and Holmes don't unravel why the belles of London society are in such danger, they'll become the next victims.

VOYA - Katie Mitchell
Evaline Stoker and Mina Holmes are an unlikely duo. When they are asked by Irene Adler to investigate the murders of young ladies who hail from Britain's upper class, the two find that once they overcome their initial distrust, they actually make a pretty good team. Evaline has trained for years to be an actual vampire hunter—a fact unbeknownst to her high society friends, while Mina possesses the same logical and inquisitive mind as her uncle. A mysterious cult focusing on Egyptology, the strange appearance of a young man who claims to be a time-traveler, the Met's own inquiry, and a street criminal create further complications for the pair, who are targeted as the killer's next victims. An alternate-universe London creates an atmospheric steampunk setting for this debut in the Stoker and Holmes mystery. Gleason is able to weave a number of genres and plotlines into a tight and suspenseful mystery. Readers who are familiar with the literary origins of the protagonists (including fans of BBC's Sherlock) will find fun bits peppered throughout the story, but the young women are also fully formed characters without their impressive lineage.
