Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
The type of clothes that we wear varies with the seasons. In the winter, if you live in a cold climate, then you will need clothes for extra warmth and protection: a coat, snow pants, a sweater, a scarf, and more. In the spring and fall, the weather is usually cool, and, in some places, it can be rainy. It may be sufficient to wear a jacket, rubber boots and raincoat and a hat. The summer often brings hot weather, and that is the time for sandals, shorts, hats, and sunglasses as well as bathing suits. Other clothing may be worn for special purposes like pajamas when you go to bed or uniforms when playing sports. Unlike many readers of this type, the vocabulary words are listed on the opening page, and the closing page includes several notes to adults about the content, focus of the book and a suggested activity, which is in addition to the related activities presented on prior pages. Simple declarative sentences on crisp white pages accompanied by photographs of children from a variety of ethnic backgrounds make this an attractive book. This is a level "C" book in the "My World" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
