Meet the Author

Montague Rhodes James (1862-1936) was an English medievalist, writer, and academic. An accomplished academic, much of James' work on early English saints remains authoritative. James is best remembered for his ghost stories, which dispensed with many of the Gothic settings used by his literary forebears and made use of more contemporary and realistic settings.
