Meet the Author

Jacques Heath Futrelle (1875-1912) was an American writer and journalist. Born in Georgia, he wrote for several New York and Boston newspapers before abandoning journalism in 1906 to concentrate on a career as a novelist. His novels and stories featuring Professor Van Dusen were well-received, making Futrelle relatively successful during his short career. Futrelle died during the sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic in 1912, having refused to board a lifeboat with his wife.

Jacques Futrelle's stories of the shrewd detective known as the Thinking Machine are classics, but buy them in another electronic edition, e.g. The Jacques Futrelle Megapack. Halcyon Classics is a lazy and incompetent e-publisher whose editions typically, as here, lack navigational tools. The epub contents facility has only one entry point, and the table of contents in the text is simply a list of underlined titles which look like links but are not. Beware!

Great stories-no index, so you make your own bookmarks-few typos and #876&*65# sot of garbage, but not at all distracting-A GOOD READ
