Strategies to Protect Your Most Important Investment In Today's Dangerously Overpriced Housing Market

Soaring home prices, combined with 50-year low interest rates, have lulled U.S. homebuyers into a false sense of security. But current economic conditions, combined with the actions of overly aggressive lenders, leave the housing market ripe for a major crash. The Coming Crash in the Housing Market is the first rational, unbiased examination of the dangers homeowners face in today's climate of overpriced housing and overextended credit. Asking and answering questions that have for too long been ignored, respected economic consultant John Talbott provides:

  • Clear-eyed and convincing analysis of the economic perils of owning or purchasing a home today
  • Ten steps homeowners can—and should—take immediately to protect themselves

Are you among the millions of Americans who lost thousands in the tech-stock crash of 2000? Do you wish somebody had said something about the dangers of staking your future on overpriced, risky investments? Today's housing market faces a similar crisis, and John Talbott is saying something about it. Find out about the price risks inherent in home ownership in today's economy, and steps you can take to protect yourself and your family from financial hardship, in Talbott's cautionary but convincing The Coming Crash in the Housing Market.

Conjecture - yes. Scientific - no. Useful - absolutely.

The book certainly raises an eyebrow, however, a scientific basis is lacking. There are some graphs and whatnot that I don't dispute but the book is written with countless theoretical statements that lack references and data to support them. Therefore, I see this book as highly editorialized and based on conjecture. If you ask me if I'm changing my fundamental approach to home buying though I would say 'absolutely, what if he's right?'

A must read by everyone that owns or looking to buy a home!!

John Talbott has hit the nail on the head! Homes are a false sense of security and alot of people will get hurt when rates begin to rise. John offers a non biased and unselfish point of view in regards to the housing market! John has been seen twice on CNBC, CNN twice, reviewed by the LA times, and even the Wall Street journal on June 4, 2003! Buy it! This book should be a best seller and be on everyones coffee table in America!!!

    TOP-NOTCH ANALYSIS

I have been waiting for this book to be written for over a year! My husband and I sold our home in November, 2002, and are now renting. To those family and friends who think we're nuts, I'm handing them this book!

    Concise, informative, authoritative!

I worked in the firm with John back in his Goldman era. Smart person. I was 3/4's through the book when it dawned on me that I hadn't made note of this intelligent author -- when I looked and saw John was the author it all made sense. His credentials are stellar and he synthesized much life experience into a great read. Will adapt my real estate behavior accordingly.

Must read for anyone considering buying a house.

This author has very credible background. A strong deflation wave is hitting too many industries, housing is next. The current Freddie Mac accounting problem was mentioned in this book just before it happened.
