Good Basic Information If You're Considering Starting a Farm

The Complete Beginner's Guide to Raising Small Animals: Everything You Need to Know About Raising Cows, Sheep, Chickens, Ducks, Rabbits, and More is just that: a mini encyclopedia with information about all of these animals. Each section on the various animals starts out with an interesting introduction on the history of the particular animal and its relationship with humans. (The goat was one of the earliest animals to be domesticated). Then the book methodically covers everything you need to know about keeping that particular animal, including health issues to be aware of and best methods for housing and husbandry. A fun middle section includes color photos and fun facts about the different species (did you know that chickens are the closest living relatives of the Tyrannosaurus Rex?) Definitely a good, thorough book for anyone considering their own farm.
