    Don't judge a book by it's cover

A variety of cakes for different age groups and occasions. Some of the cakes could have been better thought out. For example, the "Fruit basket cake" is just a sugarpasted cake with a marzipan basket of fruit sitting off center. It looks like someone needed a place to rest their basket. She does explain different techniques and gives recipes you could convert into standard measure(the recipes are written in metric portions).I did'nt follow my own advice about judging this book, but I got it at a used price,so that's o.k. By the way,the cake on the cover Is not even in the book. Most of the wedding cakes use plastic pillars, giving them a dated look. You can do a little tweaking and have some nice cakes.Maybe I'm just spoiled by Sylvia Weinstock and Martha Stewart?
