This is just what I was looking for! My child and I LOVE this book and would recommend it again and again!! The pages are fun, colorful, and has varied activities to teach your child how to work with, create and understand maps and geography (most geography is US related). It starts with the basics of map work such as floor plans, map key and the compass rose. Followed by US geography, including an intro to each state (a one page synopsis of each state's monuments and landmarks and the state flower and bird), political maps, physical maps, product maps and climate maps using the US. This is followed by an intro to N America and S America geography and then continues on to hemispheres, time zones, grid maps, continents and oceans, longitude/latitude, and the globe (not in that order)...it really has it all! It also gives practice with following directions and filling in charts. My son is in 3rd grade and this is his favorite subject of the day. We do roughly two f/b sheets daily. This book can easily last one to two years since there are 322 pages. Not all pages are work though, since they include lots of map pages to reference. This does not cover world geography much, but is a great beginning map and US geography book! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
