    Classic Monk

There's no reason, really, to buy this collection, unless you just arrived from Mars and have never heard TM before. The individual albums are still available with snazzy new liner notes too, which have all been omitted from this set in favor of a rather perfunctory essay by Richard Seidel. The original liner notes are reproduced on the back of each individual sleeve, but there is, unfortunately, no looking-glass included to help make these worthwhile. The music though, is quite wonderful, so who's complaining?
