Buying a house and not dying while trying

Finally a book that will help me feel less ignorant regarding the real state business! "The Complete dictionary of real estate terms explained simply" is a superb resource especially nowadays in the middle of the real state crisis, when the worst thing that can happen to anybody is not being properly informed.

It's a trustable support when it's time to face the selling, buying, renting or refinancing a property since it helps clarify any of the words commonly used in those transactions. This is the kind of book that is always nice to keep handy. It has terms that I've never heard in my life but I bet someday I will (but this time, I'll be armed with this book).

I have the Spanish version, which as good as the English one. The author -Jeff Haden- is giving to all the US Hispanic market and unmatched opportunity to learn, compare, adapt and understand the American way when it comes to the Real State industry.

The Complete Dictionary of Real Estate Terms Explained Simply

Jeff Haden, a little known name in the real estate world may just become very well known with this very complete dictionary of real estate terminology. Coming from the legal profession, I believe that any real estate or title attorney needs to have this book in their reference library. We might be calling the checking of real estate terms as ¿Hadenizing.¿ Check this out! Where else can you find real estate terminology that explains how the terms came into existence, how they pertain to you in the ever active marketplace, and instruct you how you can improve your real estate business. Sometimes, I go back to my old Army days. When I was in Basic Training we were given a book that was referred to by the Drill Sergeants as the Smart Book. It contained all the rules we were to know by the end of the training course. Literally, all the rules, definitions, and it came with quick references to allow you to pinpoint what the Drill was trying to scream at you to learn. That was a lot of stress for a young guy in training¿ and there is just as much stress when you have thousands of dollars involved and it is up to your expertise to get the job done. Well that¿s just where this book fits in, a rule book that gives you what you need to know in a business that seems to be turning different directions with every wind blow. I¿m not trying to say that you can¿t go it on your way without this book, but why try learning what has already been learned¿ just move on and use a book like this to help you become the best darn real estate agent in the business. And one thing I do know is that you can¿t know everything. A good reference is what all the successful professionals use and here it is! This book is thorough and very complete. Real estate agents, both with prior experience or newly licensed, need to keep this as a reference as well. Don¿t get me wrong this book isn¿t just for the experts!! It¿s built for the laymen just getting into property investment and novice house flippers. Good work Jeff! Keep on ¿Hadenizing¿ the real estate terms.

Essential reference book for every real estate investor

Haden¿s dictionary is just that: a dictionary. This book is not a ¿how to¿ manual that you typically see in the real estate investor section at your local bookstore instead, this book is the reference that should accompany every other book you¿ve bought. It is arranged like a standard dictionary, with terms in alphabetical order and cross-referenced where appropriate. There is no index, but finding the term you need is simple since they are arranged so logically. Each definition is explained in simple, everyday English. Unlike many specialized dictionaries I¿ve seen, these explanations do not require you to look up five more words in order to understand them. Everything you need is contained in that entry, right where you need it. Also, if a term usually has an acronym associated with it, that acronym is also provided. ¿The Complete Dictionary of Real Estate Terms¿ explains almost all of the terms you would need, from the relatively simple terms like ¿open house¿ and ¿commission¿ to the more complex subjects including dispossess proceedings, gift causa mortis, and short-term capital gain. I recommend buying a copy of this book and keeping it with you wherever you do business (your desk, your car, your office, etc.) so that you will not let the lingo slow down your profits.

    Real Estate Terms Made Easy

If you¿re planning on buying a house, thinking of investing in real estate, or even already invest in real estate ¿ this is a great resource and I highly recommend it. The Complete Dictionary of Real Estate Terms is the perfect tool to own and keep as your ready reference. The book contains over 2,400 real estate specific terms, and they are arranged in alphabetical order and clearly and easily defined. Whether you are doing preliminary research in the real estate market, studying contracts and forms as you contemplate your purchase or investment, or sitting at the closing table, this book will prove to be a most valuable resource in your key decision-making process. Talking to a realtor can sometimes be intimidating because of the phrases they bandy about (that might as well be Latin as far as I¿m concerned). To be a good investor you need to know the language of the business, and understanding real estate terms and phrases can help you make better decisions when you buy, sell, or rent a property. Plus, you¿ll feel more confident and assured when you interact with those real estate professionals because you¿ll be able to speak their language. If you¿re even considering buying or selling property, you need this book! You will begin to feel even more confident about your actions as you gain valuable understanding of real estate terms.

A must have for anybody in real estate

Some real estate terms may be quite simple to understand, but others read like a foreign language. While the real estate field certainly comes with a lot of requirements, trying to single-handedly learn a new language should not be one of them. Thankfully, Jeff Haden¿s `The Complete Dictionary of Real Estate Terms Explained Simply: What Smart Investors Need to Know¿ makes real estate lingo seem like a breeze. Or at least it makes it as easy as you could possibly hope for it to be! Before I read this book, I thought I had a good handle on real estate terms and what they mean. Once I got this book, I started to think and decided to give myself a brief quiz. I looked at various words and tried to define them in my own words. What I discovered shocked me. The words that I thought I was completely familiar with are the words that I struggled with the most. It turns out that some words are just easy to figure out when used in context. But if anybody ever asked me to actually define one of those words, I would have had no idea of what to say. Now that I have this book, I feel that I can be a lot more confident about the words I use before they actually come out of my mouth. More importantly, I feel like I will be able to follow real estate related conversations much more easily without trying to guess what a particular word means. Of course, I have no intention on reading through the entire dictionary and trying to memorize every word. That would be fruitless. But now that I have this terrific guide at my disposal, I always know how to get the simple answer to any questions that I might have without trying to decipher a foreign code. If you are in the real estate business, I strongly recommend that you buy this book. You might be surprised by how much you really don¿t know!

Your Must-Have Reference for Real Estate Survival!

I sure could have used this dictionary last year, when I was in the market to buy a house! My realtor started chauffeuring me around from property to property. She did a lot of talking. I had to stop her after almost every sentence to request a down-to-earth translation of the real estate jargon she was throwing at me. Jeff Haden's book could have saved me a lot of head scratching! Probably no high-dollar transaction touches so many people with so much at stake at one time as real estate. Whether you're an agent, property buyer, seller, or third party investor, your chances of winning in this game are linked directly to your ability to 'talk the talk' with confidence and purpose. And The Complete Dictionary of Real Estate Terms gets you there! With a quick flip through an expansive list of alphabetical entries, you're able to easily locate and 'de-code' a wealth of terms and phrases that even the most seasoned real estate pros might need help keeping up with. This must-have reference text delivers thorough, easy to grasp definitions of the words that make up the language that drives the world of real estate. So now, thanks to Jeff Haden, when I get involved with my next property deal, concepts like 'blended rate,' 'basis points,' and 'cost approach improvement value' won't intimidate me in the least. This book should be on everybody's shelf! -- Robert Gardner, Ph.D.
