Why you Should Try Family Camping

Our family recently went camping in the Smoky Mountains. We saw lots of wild animals and told stories around the campfire. We also did some fishing and hiking.

The experience was awesome and one that I am sure we will remember our entire lives.

Some of the benefits we experienced, and I think you will to:

Relax. Camping is a great way to disconnect from our crazy and fast paced lives, turn off the iPhones, iPads and enjoy Mother Nature. If you’re like me, you probably have a very busy schedule and your kids are involved in to many activities. When you take a break and go camping, you take a break from all of that and just enjoy each other’s company.

Exposure To Outdoors. My wife and I find that being in nature is very therapeutic. I always get refreshed and recharged when I spend time in great outdoors. We find that exposing our children to the outdoors is a great opportunity for them to learn.

Learn About Nature & Animals. Growing up in the suburbs, our kids know very little about really being in nature and even less about basic survival skills. Camping is a great way to teach kids all about nature and how to respect their surroundings.

Your kids can have a lot of fun learning about trees, plants, birds, animals and insects.

Trees and Plants - Have a contest to see who can identify the most species. Bring a few books from the library to use in the identification.

Birds – Have your kids try to identify any birds by their song? It's great fun to see what kind of birds are in the area.

Insects – Bring some glass jars and have your kids collect some bugs, spiders, grasshoppers, etc., then have them try to identify them before releasing them back into the wild.

Animals - Safety around animals is very important, so be sure and keep your distance. Do a little research before you go to find out what type of wildlife you may encounter. Then teach you kids about them and how to interact with them.

Learn some new and important Skills.

Camping is a great time for kids to learn some outdoor skills. Teach them how to:

Build a Fire – try it without the aid of lighter fluid

Tie Knots – Bring a Boy Scout manual and see who can master the most knots.

Show them how to set up a tent.

Eating is a big part of the camping experience. Show them how to cook over a campfire.

Find a stick on the ground and let them try whittling. This may keep them busy for hours!

Connect

Camping is a great way to really talk to your kids and family. When sitting around the campfire, talk to your kids about what’s going on in their lives. Which activities and school subjects do they really like and why? This is a great way to learn who they really are. My wife and I are usually so caught up in our day to day lives that we just don't take the time for these in depth conversations.

This eBook will give you lots of information on how to make your camping trip a truly wonderful experience for the whole family. If your new to camping or just looking for some new ideas to make your next trip a blast…this book is a must read.

Camping is my families favorite summer activity and trip to go on! This book is filled with fun ideas and great recipes to make a camping trip memorable. The book is great for anyone that is a veteran with camping (might help refresh or get new ideas) and is perfect for the newbies out their that are going camping for the first time!
