“The Complete Guide to Growing Your Own Hops, Malts, and B

“The Complete Guide to Growing Your Own Hops, Malts, and Brewing Herbs” is the perfect book for anyone who enjoys brewing their own beer. My boyfriend just recently became interested in making his own beer but all of the ingredients became very pricy. When I saw this book I decided to give it to him and he loved it. It told him everything he needed to do in order to grow his own ingredients. He said the beer tasted better with his homegrown ingredients than the ones he bought.

Look closely at the cover of The Complete Guide to Growing Your Own Hops, Malts, and Brewing Herbs and you’ll see the most important reason to consider this book: The phrase “Everything you need to know explained simply.” It’s the “simply” that makes all the difference. Anyone who’s caught the brewing bug wants to graduate from kits and extracts to even more individualized recipes, eventually working up to batches made entirely from home grown ingredients. But that hasn’t always been easy. Many guidebooks become bogged down in overly technical instructions, while others offer overly vague suggestions. Finding a happy medium hasn’t always been easy, which is what makes John Peragine’s guide such a welcome addition to the homebrewer’s library. It doesn’t shy away from explanatory details, but it doesn’t read like a chemist’s or botanist’s textbook, either. The writing is clear, chapters are organized and coherent, charts and illustrations are easy-to-follow, and the book covers a tremendous amount of ground. You’ll find everything you need to know to start from seed and end up with brews that you can be proud of – and proud to say that you’ve made entirely from scratch.
