I have previously studied NLP techniques, but have not done so in a systematic manner. The techniques I applied as a coach worked very well and so I was very interested in reading this new book, "The Complete Guide to Understanding and Using NLP" by Barbara Gibson. I found Gibson's book to be easy to read because she focuses on creating clarity and understanding for the reader, defining terms and helping the reader integrate the material with practical applications. Gibson's simple and direct descriptions of terms coupled with many examples reduced the mystery of NLP and made it seem so much more applicable to many coaching situations I face. One reason this book was a practical help to me was that the author makes the reader apply what he is reading by giving exercises at the end of learning modules. I would like to have seen even more examples in the book of how one would apply the different NLP techniques. Overall, I am grateful to the author for writing a book that makes the NLP understandable and showcases its applicability to a tremendous variety of human interactions and communications. Was this review helpful?
