The Complete Haydn Masses

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - James Leonard
It is good to have Haydn's masses collected in one eight-disc set, here performed by the Trinity Choir and the REBEL Baroque Orchestra, with conducting duties shared by J. Owen Burdick and Jane Glover. These are polished and thoroughly professional readings of the scores. Taken individually, the masses are less impactful than recordings of the same works by Richard Hickox, John Eliot Gardiner, Simon Preston, Trevor Pinnock, and especially George Guest and David Willcocks, but the collection offers excellent value and good quality overall. Naxos' digital sound is very live and vivid.
