    I Also Recommend:

    Contrived names. Mostly useless.

Most of the 40,000 names in the book are contrived, derived from movies or books, or far outside of the American culture. It is not targeted toward any particular culture or region, so you will need to sift through most of the 40,000 names in order to find any that you would even consider.

We went through sometimes 5 pages at a time without finding anything remotely resembling a name we had ever heard actually used.

There are far better books on the market. Look for those that categorize names or have cross-referenced lists of names that can serve as seed ideas as you engage in your name search. (we found babynamewizard.com to be right up our alley; there is a companion Baby Name Wizard book that we also found helpful).
