With this new edition Bill Douglas and his wife have created a more complete and user friendly tutorial. The video clips that can be
accessed on-line are great aid to instruction, giving the reader access to easy to follow graphic aids for all exercises and tai chi form
movements. This is great improvement over still photos and simple static drawings. The book makes no assumption that the reader has
any background or knowledge of Eastern martial arts or philosophy, and does a very good job of presenting instructions, philosophic
concepts, and a little of Chinese medicine in an easy to follow text. I bought the Nook edition. With the Nook apps, I found it easy to
combine reading the text and selecting the on-line elements on my lap top.

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Tai Chi & QiGong is a rich gift from perhaps the most passionate Tai Chi/QiGong teachers and advocates in the world. Written and organized in a playful, clear, but loosely structured style, the book is both easy to read straight through from front to back, or like a Chinese calligraphy landscape painting, to freely meander and browse through sampling tidbits of wisdom along the way. Regardless of the path taken, along the way you will find abundant information about Tai Chi and QiGong reflecting Bill and Angela’s rich insight into these arts, and their experience as long-term practitioners, teachers, and ‘bridgers’ between Eastern wisdom and modern Western science. As a scientist and Tai Chi teacher myself, I am always looking for new ideas for translating and conveying Tai Chi concepts to my academic colleagues and students. This book is chock-filled with often humorous, yet profound ideas, metaphors and images that help make the deep art of Tai Chi accessible to all. Finally, this 4th edition’s generous link to more than 100 web-based instructional videos thoughtfully produced by Bill and Angela makes it a highly practical book for learning Tai Chi on your own. I highly recommend this book to would-be, novice, and experienced Tai Chi practitioners.
