Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
A companion to the Infant/Toddler Curriculum by the same authors, this self-directed guide for toddler teachers utilizes the "Innovations" approach to working with young children. Based on the idea that the quality of interactions should drive curriculum for youngster, this guide uses 38 modules to guide the practitioner through activities such as observing, record keeping, including parents and planning curriculum. Each module states the time necessary for completion, usually one hour, the philosophy or theory behind the activity, form or checklists to complete as well as readings. Well-written and organized, practitioners with limited reading skills made need the assistance of another teacher or supervisor to fully understand the early childhood education language. The entire program takes an estimated 41 hours to complete and is an excellent vehicle to train new staff and assure that everyone in a program is understanding of that program's philosophy and expected practices. A certificate is included for program participants. 2001, Gryphon House, $12.95. Ages Adult. Reviewer: Meredith Kiger AGES: Adult
