The book and qaulity of the book is wonderful. But there is a huge mistake on the Bill of Rights. The 2nd Amendment and 4th Amendment are totally switched. The Right to bear arms which is supposed to be the 2nd Amendment is listed as the 4th Amendment. This really is dishearteing because I don't know what other typo's and mistakes the book has. If you want a reliable souce, please get another copy of  our Constituion, because the Bill of Rights in this one is totally messed up. So sad, I hope they fix that, because I did not expect a huge publishing company such as Barnes & Nobles to make that kind of mistake, and it makes all there other Collectible Leather Bound texts unreliable. This isn't just a little mistake. The mistake is on Page 759. Both the 2nd and 4th Amendments are messed up.

To the review on 9/25/13: The header section of 758 clearly stated that the articles included from pg. 758 ~ 760 were proposed draft versions to Congress. It showed an important step where Bill of Rights were still being discussed and going through ratification. The full ratified 27 amendments were noted in Appendix B.

This makes a great gift! It's of the same quality as other books in the B&N "Leatherbound Classics"/"Collectable Editions" series: the cover probably isn't genuine leather, but close enough, and the binding, end papers and artwork, ribbon bookmark, print, paper, and other details are very good. I'd been looking for a hardcover copy of the Constitution, Federalist Papers, and Declaration of Independence, and this volume more than covers that ground. I haven't read this one all the way through yet, but like other volumes in this series, I would expect the occasional typo - I would guess that the publishers produce this series by scanning printed text into OCR software and then running the results through a spell-checker, with perhaps a quick review by a human editor before typesetting and printing. Nevertheless, the results usually aren't too bad.

I didn't notice the "problems" with the order of the Bill of Rights mentioned by other reviewers: in my edition of this book (2012) there are at least three versions of the Bill of Rights, with the final, most familiar version listed in the Appendix, and earlier drafts being discussed or debated by the Founding Fathers in correspondence, which is a great way to see how these key documents evolved and gain better insight to the intent; this is explained in introductions/footnotes to the relevant sections (it may come as a surprise to some of us that the Founding Fathers were not convinced a Bill of Rights should have been included with the Constitution, and that the issue was the subject of argument and a great deal of revision before a compromise was reached! For one example, see James Madison's defense of such "Amendments to the Constitution", page 742 of my edition, for some sense of that debate.)

For the history and insight into the Federal U.S. government, some version of this book should be in every household in the U.S. - this book would make a fabulous gift for anyone, especially anyone with an interest in politics, philosophy of government, law, or American history. With all the vital founding documents and a gorgeous presentation and perfect format, this seems to make the best collection of these documents one could hope for.

    This book is great.

Forget the review which claims that it got the amendments wrong. As explained in the book there were originally 12 amendments which it lists and then explains the #3-12 were ratified to become the Bill of Rights and #1 was never ratified and #2 later became the 27th amendment. For example, the 2nd amendment was originally the 4th. They later list all the amendments correctly. I think its a great piece of history to add. I did not know that before. So that reviewer is obviously confused when they say there is a mistake in the book.

Highly recommend for content and presentation.

Gave this to my grandson as part of his high school graduation gift...he was thrilled! Started looking at it right away. He will be studying "war, peace, and strategy analysis" in college, so thinks it will be very helpful.
