Lucy has a great talent for weaving an unusual storyline, and keeping you reading until the end. This short story, which took me about twenty minutes to read, was surprisingly sweet. Heidi is quiet, but quite a strong woman with her own mind, I thought. And Ava is more shy, probably due to a lifetime of keeping people at a distance because of who / what she is. In such a short story, Lucy managed to give the characters strong personalities that lead you to understanding who they are, instead of telling you outright - excellent.
For me, the eroticism of the story was for the most part quite subtle, found mostly within slight touches, eye contact and exploring the way that the two women felt about each other. There is a love scene, and I thought it was very tastefully written, and I didn't feel it was the focus of the story - the focus being the romance between these two.
If anyone is new to reading F/F romances and doesn't know where to start, this is a really good place, as it eases you in gently.
A great, short read.
