    Cougars Story-Chapter #5

Birds chirped and the wind blew through the green forest, as Cougar and Skypaint slowly walked through, the sunlight dappled thier pelts and the ground around them. "You never got a warrior name..." Skypaint meowed remorsfuly. "If it wasnt for me, you could have stayed and at least gotten a warrior name." Cougar shrugged it off "Its fine. Im not trained as a warrior at all and I dont want a name from Fire." "Thats right. Are you even old enough for one yet?" Skypaint asked. Cougar narrowed his eyes "Yes Skypaint, I am. Im older then you! Just because Im small doesnt always mean Im youger!" He remarked bitterly. "I- Im sorry, I forgot." Skypaint replied quietly. "Anyways, it doesnt matter how old I am. Fire became deupty at six moons! So why must I be a certain age for a warriors name?" Skypaint shrugged as they both continued further. The pair continued on in silence for a time before Cougar stopped walking. "You feel that?" He meowed. Skypaint looked at him with confusion "Feel what?" "Somethings wrong, I can sense it." Skypaint rolled her eyes "You and your silly predictions. Its nothing, now common! Its gonna get dark soon." Cougar glared at her "Its not my fault Im starter then you," he retorted. Skypaint opened her mouth to reply but just then a great vibrtion and groaning sound came from the ground. "Earthquake!" Both cats yelped simultaniously. "We have to get away from the trees!" Skypaint said urgently. They ran forward towards a clearing, but just tail lengths before they reached it, another shaking began, rippling the ground like tidal waves. Both cats were pushed up then dropped back down. Skypaint and Cougar both stood again only to be knocked off thier feet again. Cougar regained footing, Skypaint didnt have the strenth. The ground felt like mush under thier paws as another, even bigger wave rolled to them. The trees rose and fell and creaked and swayed. "Cougar!" Skypaints voice came to him, almost drowned out by the thundering ground. A large redrood tree snapped in half like a twig and began falling towards them. The tall, tangled branches fell, creating a cage around Cougar and Skypaint. They both fell the to ground under the weight of the tree as a thorn sharp branch pierced Cougrs leg. He went unconsious.______Cougar opened his just enough to see. He could see and hear two cats he didnt recognize talking outside the den. He realized he was laying a medicine den lest, and that Skypaint was nearbye. The brown and white tom attempted to move but all that resulted was a painful moan. Just then a golden tom walked over "Dont try to move. Your fine. The tree broke one of your ribs but youll be fine soon. Im Goldenflame, and your in Cloverclan. Your safe here." Cougar stayed silent, trying to stop his head from aching so much. "Is...Is Skypaint here? Is she okay?" He murmered. "The white shecat? Yes shes here. Her um....tail." he paused, searching for words. "Her tail didnt make it. The tree took it off when it rolled away during the quake. But shes fine." Cougar was about to ask more about Skypaint when Goldenflame spoke up again. "She said that your name is Cougar. Is that Cougarkit? Or maybe Cougarpaw..." he smiled "A very small Cougarpaw." "My name is Cougar." Cougar replied curtly. Sensing the tension Goldenflame decided to move on. "Well its nice to meet you Cougar. Our medicine cat will be here to see you soon." He meowed kindly before exiting the warm den. Cougar sighed and closed his eyes. He fell to sleep again.
