I have a library of books at home on infertility and IVF, but this is hands down the resource I turned to most often during my two IVF cycles. This book doesn't waste time on infertililty basics, or the tests you need to do, or any of that. It dives right into the preparation for and carrying out of an in vitro cycle. Chapters cover how to pay for IVF, what to expect in a typical cycle (calendar and medication descriptions included), what to do to maximize your chances of success, questions and answers on a wide variety of topics, how to solicit emotional support from friends and family, etc... This is a must have reference book.

This was one of the first books that I got when I found out we would have to do IVF. It has been a great help and very informative read for me. It definitely gave me the basic rundown on procedures, costs, emotions, etc. I think it's great, and would recommend it to all couples going through this.

In vitro can be challenging and emotionally draining. So I am glad that I discovered Liza Charlesworth¿s excellent Couple¿s Guide. The book covers some pretty heavy topics -- raising the piles of cash necessary to do the procedure, for example, or dealing with doctors -- in a friendly, encouraging way. It gave me hope, something not always so easy to muster.

for Assisted Reproduction in Elizabeth Swire Falker's very informative guide, THE INFERTILITY SURVIVAL HANDBOOK. The journey to an IVF decision usually involves side trips of testing, Clomid, injectibles, IUIs; plus all the treatments for male factor. I am an RE in California; I recommend THE INFERTILITY SURVIVAL HANDBOOK to patients. Ms. Charlesworth's book does offer some insight, however.

This book is fabulous! Not only is the book packed with easy-to-understand, medically accurate information, it addresses the considerable management, financial, and emotional aspects of the process as well. What truly surprised me about THE COUPLES GUIDE TO IN VITRO FERTILIZATION, though, was that it accomplished all of the above while also being truly fun to read. I found myself nodding, crying, and laughing at the stories shared by the many couples interviewed for the book. As both a docter and someone who has experienced IVF, I can whole-heartedly recommend this book to anyone embarking on this challenging- and potentially rewarding journey.
