Overview

Ned Matheson knows Fila Sahar has been to hell and back after being held captive by the Taliban for over a decade. She’s lost her parents, her home, and ten years of her life. Now she’s safely back on American soil, but her fears have her so hemmed in, she might as well be a prisoner again. Ned knows he can’t date her, let alone marry her, until she’s regained her courage. He’s confident he’s found the perfect solution—he’ll get her a restaurant she can call her own.

Fila cares for Ned more than she can say, and she’s grateful for the home he’s given her on his family’s ranch, but before she can give her heart to any man, she has to find the courage to reenter society. When Ned surprises her with his perfect solution—the restaurant he’s leased and renovated in her name—she doesn’t know how to tell him she can’t imagine being brave enough to ever run it. So when Ned’s father sends him out of town to check on the family’s remote hunting cabin, she’s grateful for the delay.

Ned knows his father wants to split him and Fila up, so there’s no way he’s leaving town without taking her along. But when they reach the cabin, a savage twist of fate will turn the tables on both of them. Ned will learn what it’s like to be helpless. Fila will have to find the courage she lost years ago.

Can they survive the weekend? Or will this trip be their last?

I love that this series takes you away to a place that is like comfort food. You get a community that cares about life, family, friends, hard work, the future, romance and hope. The women are not weak and clingy and they have goals that no man will keep them from, but still have that softness that gets to their rugged cowboy when need be.

The kidnapped escapee from an earlier story is trying to overcome the fear from her captivity. Can the rough cowboy help her? Will his bigot father run her off?

3.5 Stars I love the Cowboys of Chance Creek series. I'm sorry to say that this was by far my least favorite one. The writing was good but the story line was too unbelievable for me to enjoy. Everything happened so fast. Fila Sahar's programming by the Taliban was so severe and would have taken a long, long time to break through, which made the story even more unrealistic. Holt's negative reaction to Ned wanting to marry such a broken woman was typical for Holt's personality but made me dislike him even more. For as emotionally scattered as Fila was, she had mountains of courage! Maybe it was from everything she's been through or maybe because she loved Ned so much. She may not be fully ready to re-enter society but her determination to save Ned was amazing. I love the writing style of Cora Seton and will continue to enjoy her books as always. Looking forward to the next book in this fantastic series. Received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

While I have enjoyed each book in the series i think maybe I liked this the best because there was some suspense built in and it made each page turn a bit quicker... Enjoyed all the series and read them all in order which is important... Likeable young people who live in a small Montana town...Lots of family dynamics to deal with... Light and fun reads.

Seton knows how to tell a great story & teach some important things at the same time. Hooray for marriage, Montana, & strong women!

I love this whole series. I read all 7 of them in about a week! I feel like I am a resident in Chance Creek. I love these kinds of series where you can get to know all of the characters from different perspectives. Great author! Keep up the good work!

The Cowboy Rescues a Bride   by Cora Seton As we arrive back at the ranch for Seton's 7th book in Chance Creek series we will be spending most of our time with Ned who is busying trying to show his being given charge of the ranch by the overbearing father, Holt, is merited. Meantime Luke is busy attempting to show Ned this job is just too big for him. Not to disappoint, Seton gives us a sweet romance to grab our attention. She really thinks out of the box on this and gives our main female character a non-stereotypical background. Fila, saw the Taliban murder her parents and spent 10 years as their prisoner. Not only that she managed to escape. Now fear and bad memories torment her. Ned thinks he is just the man to love her back to a healthly place.  The story has a good plot, flows well and has a good pace once we get past first few chapters. Character development was well done making the reader want to get to know each one. Seton's writing style is descriptive and easy to follow. I did struggle with Fila's living alone with Ned. Just did not seem realistic due to her culture, her past 10 years, her fears and her stuggles to cope. I did very much like her and Ned together and saw many positive relationship lessons to be gleaned there. As well as a sweet love story. I would recommend this to anyone enjoying romanctic fiction. Best have your ice tea and a comfy chair, you may not want to stop turning the pages until you are finished. NOTE: I received a copy of this in exchange of honest review. NOTE:Contains some sexually explicit material.

Cora Seton has created a wonderful community in Chance Creek with a variety of interesting characters. This love story is centered on Ned Matheson and Fila Suhar and is a story of strength and survival – in more ways than one. Ned is one of four brothers who have been running the ranch under the supervision of their father but those four brothers have also being played one against the other by their father. Fila is a young woman who has managed to escape from Afghanistan after spending ten years as a captive in a Taliban area. She is dealing with much and Ned is there to help her. In this story both Fila and Ned overcome hardships and in so doing come out stronger for having done so. 3.5 stars

I will read every book of Cora's that I can get. This is one of my top series to read. This is the most functional non functional family that I know. Fila is an American of Afghan parents. They went back home to Afghanistan for her grandmother's funeral. The Taliban killed her parents and kidnapped her for 10 years. She gets away but is damaged no matter how she looks at it. She comes to the Double Bar K ranch and meets Ned. He is the troubled sort and is trying to change. He has trouble with his Dad. They argue over Fila. You must read how this book ends. There are lots of twist and turns. Some are expected and some aren't. Please check this book out!
