Overview

Bella Chatham will lose everything - her veterinary practice, her animal shelter, and even her home - if she can't find another source of income, fast. So when her best friend signs her up for the hot new reality television show, Can You Beat a Billionaire, Bella accepts the challenge and hopes against hope she can win the ten million dollar prize. If she doesn't, it's bye-bye pet clinic and shelter, bye-bye Chance Creek, Montana, and hello to marriage to the billionaire for a year!

Evan Mortimer, billionaire, can't believe he's reduced to competing in a television contest to win a wife. Unfortunately, it's the only foolproof way to secure his position as head of Mortimer Innovations. At least he'll be able to dump his "spouse" at the end of the year; he's much too busy to be tied down to a country bumpkin cowgirl.

Bella doesn't expect her adversary to be handsome - or funny, or compassionate - but Evan's all three, and he's proving a tough competitor, too. When they end up sharing a tent - and a sleeping-bag - her body betrays her with a longing so deep it cuts her to the core. Still, this cowgirl must stay strong. If Evan uncovers her secret fears, he'll use them to win the contest - and then he'll own her for a year. She'll be out of luck, out of cash, and stuck being Mrs. Mortimer until he kicks her to the curb. Too bad she can't decide which is worse - winning the show and losing Evan forever, or losing the show and only being his temporary wife.

Evan can't believe he's falling for the one woman who doesn't want him. This cowgirl's not impressed by his money, his name, or his inability to sleep in a tent with her for an entire night, but every look and touch she gives him sends his desire through the roof. With a director determined to use his claustrophobia to make him look like a fool, and an adversary so sexy he can hardly see straight, he'll need all his savvy to come out on top. Too bad he's going to lose no matter how this show turns out. If he beats Bella, he'll destroy the first woman he's ever loved. If he doesn't beat her, it's bye-bye Mortimer Innovations.

Will either of them remember in time that it's not who wins or who loses - it's how they play the game that really counts?

Cora Seton loves cowboys, country life, gardening, bike-riding, and lazing around with a good book. Mother of four, wife to a computer programmer/eco-farmer, she ditched her California lifestyle eight years ago and moved to a remote logging town in northwestern British Columbia.

Like the characters in her novels, Cora enjoys old-fashioned pursuits and modern technology, spending mornings transforming a neglected one-acre lot into a paradise of orchards, berry bushes and market gardens, and afternoons writing the latest Chance Creek romance novel on her iPad mini. ¿The Cowgirl Ropes a Billionaire¿ is a sweet, girl-meets-billion

“The Cowgirl Ropes a Billionaire” is a sweet, girl-meets-billionaire-instant-love-story with a twist. It’s well written and interesting. I’m not a fan of the cowboy/cowgirl genre, but in this case, the heroine wasn’t a cowgirl, the hero wasn’t a cowboy, and the villain was a woman and a TV producer! Putting them into a reality show worked well to showcase their talents as well as their faults. After reading “The Cowgirl Ropes a Billionaire” I would probably read another book by Cora Seton.

Veterinarian Bella Chatham is a pushover for any stray, injured animal she meets. Since everyone in Chance Creek knows she can’t bear to euthanize a healthy animal, people bring her strays. Every penny she earns goes into feeding her menagerie. Unfortunately, she’s about to lose her practice because she can’t pay the bills.

Billionaire Evan Mortimer needs to get married in order to keep Mortimer Innovations. He’s kept the company focused on technologies that would reduce people’s need for oil, but if his very-married brother, Nate, gets his greedy hands on the company, they’d be fracking for oil in North Dakota.

A new reality show, Can You Beat a Billionaire, offers a ten million dollar prize to any female contestant who can beat a billionaire in a series of physical challenges. If the billionaire wins, he gets a bride for a year. Bella needs the money desperately, so when her friends sign her up as a contestant, she decides to compete. Evan is sure he can win, because he’s sure he can win almost any physical challenge, and, better still, he can dump his bride after a year. Perfect!

Bella didn’t expect her opponent to be quite so good looking, or so good at everything he tries. Evan didn’t expect find someone who wasn’t interested in his money or his position, or to be so attracted to her. TV producer Madeline is determined to make it tough for both of them, even using their secret fears against them. Both are determined to see it through to the end, even though by winning they might end up losing the thing they want most.

I received my copy from librarything in exchange for an honest review.

    Entertaining

This novel was very entertaining and I did enjoy reading it. There were no surprises and you knew exactly what to expect when you started reading this book. Most of the time when I choose a book to read I just want to be entertained and this book did it. If I wanted something heavy and full of drama I would have chosen something else. Hope you enjoy it.

    Good but not great

    ## This book had tremendous potential but couldn't quite deliver. A few chapters in, I thought "man these two are just going to fight and insult each other through the whole book." But luckily they had some sweet moments too. They had terrific chemistry for sure. And the sex scene in the tent was hot. But there were a few things that bugged me. Describing the heroine as 'white trash' and Betty Bumpkin was uncalled for in my opinion. She graduated top of her class from Montana State University and then continued her education at Colorado State. Just because she lives in an Airstream doesn't make her white trash. An Airstream costs more than my house and car combined. Also, I wish the author had written the heroine a little more capable. She made her sound and look stupid during the competition. Just so-so for me.

    Nice

A different twist to how 2 people meet. Evan and Bella both have things from their pasts they deal with. As their competition on a game show progresses they find their attraction for each other. Don't want to reveal too much.
Read the book and enjoy a lovely romance.

    Well done

The author did a good job of showing how a childhood accident can affect an entire familly for many years if the family does not share in open honest communication.
