A must read for all attorneys

Melcher's book offers a practical approach to building a successful practice while maintaining a high level of personal satisfaction. The tips and check lists are invaluable to a person who wishes to maintain their self identity in a profession that all too often demands a lock-step approach to thinking.

    Useful book

Many books tell lawyers how to stop being lawyers. Michael Mercher's book helps lawyers figure out ways to make a better life in the law. The exercises alone are worth the price of the book. I hope there will be reading groups for lawyers who work through this book together.

    Insightful advice.

This book is articulate and insightful. Melcher has leveraged his experience as a former corporate lawyer to provide practical advice to lawyers pondering other creative possibilities with their lives.

    Great book

I read this book straight through in one sitting, and then went back and did the exercises. It's the most intelligently written book on career and self-management that I've read. I would unreservedly recommend this to my lawyer friends -- this is an author who really gets it, and yet keeps you inspired.

    BACK TO BUY MORE!

I'm still implementing the suggestions from this great and accessible book, but can already see some changes in my professional and creative projects. Unlike a lot of self-help books with exercises, this one really speaks directly to the thought patterns of lawyers & other professionals -- how we have lots of strengths, but sometimes get in our own way. The approach isn't law firm bashing or lawyer bashing, but helps you make personal transformations to work in an authentic and healthy way with a real future. I'm buying more copies to give to colleagues and friends.

    Good book for new lawyers

This book is good not just for people who are already practicing law but also for people who are in law school and about to begin a legal career. It helps you keep things in perspective in advance so that you can make the most of your worklife.
