Meet the Author

Yusuke Kishi was born in 1959 in Osaka. He graduated from Kyoto University with a degree in Economics. After working for a life insurance company for several years, Kishi started his writing career as a freelancer. He has twice won the Japan Horror Association Award, and boasts bestselling status in Japan with multiple works adapted to the screen. The Crimson Labyrinth marks his American debut.

    Engaging Read

    Pulled me in pretty quickly and not against my will. Found characters and story line believable in a strange way. Good writing in the Japanese style and I continue to look for books in a similar genre. Good thriller.

    Survivor meets Battle Royale

    Yoshihiko Fujiki, a down-and-out casualty of post-bubble era layoffs, wakes up one day and finds himself in a strange wilderness of deep red rock formations. He has no memory of how he got there. He looks around and finds a gameboy-like machine; when he turns it on, the screen reads: WELCOME TO THE MARS LABYRINTH. Fujiki and eight other misfits of Japanese society have landed themselves in a twisted game, masterminded by an unknown puppeteer. To survive the game and return to Japan, they have to follow instructions conveyed to them through these game machines. But the mastermind has some surprises in store for them... the intense heat, persistant flies, flash floods, and poisonous snakes are not the true danger that lurks in this hell on earth...
