Raised on the streets of London, Fiona Byrne is sold into a life of sin, purchased by a powerful nobleman who is as depraved as he is handsome. Under his wicked tutelage, she becomes England's most desired courtesan: Giselle de Coeur, "The Crimson Lady" - an extraordinary beauty whose sensual skill is legendary, but whose shame is too painful to bear. After years under the nobleman's control, Fiona escapes, taking the disguise of a simple seamstress in an effort to live in peace. But then she is discovered by Braedan de Cantor, a desperate mercenary knight. He threatens to expose her secret unless she will aid him in finding his sister, who has been debased at the hands of the same corrupt master. I'm not sure what one of the other reviewers was talking about in saying the second half of this book was boring. I'd like to know what books he/she is reading, because that wasn't what i felt about this story at all. This book kept me reading to see how everything would be resolved. I couldn't figure out how it could end well but the author pulled it off. It also had some very satisfying and emotional scenes. The "rain" scene about 2/3 of the way through the book is probably one of the most romantic and moving love scenes I've ever read in a romance. It's not your average love scene in a romance that's for sure. The emotional bond Fiona and Braedan make during that helps them to defeat the villain together later in the book. I loved this story. It's sticking with me even though I finished reading it a few weeks ago. I recommend it for anyone who wants to read a romance that isn't the same as every other one.

    Something Different

Not your run of the mill medieval romance. Complex and emotional. A good story!

    Bored

The book started out good with an original story...then about half way through, it got boring and predictable. Almost painful to finish!
