About the Author

Winston Churchill (1871-1947) was an American author, essayist, and poet. His first acclaimed work was Richard Carvel (1899), but he went on to publish twelve books and many plays. His naturalist style and political flair were characteristic of his writings. He worked in politics, and wrote about his tours of battlefields in World War One.
