Meg North's descriptions of Victorian Portland are so atmospheric that it felt like a true escape to another era. I instantly felt sorry for the young protagonist, Olivia, who is suffering under the confines of being a woman in the 1800's. Her dreams of being an actress, of experiencing life beyond her family home's walls, are squashed by everyone around her. The paranormal element is artfully introduced and woven into the story. There are a lot of twists and turns, which kept me hooked.

Meet the Author

Writing "The Curtain Falls" was a trip down memory lane for me. Like Olivia, my mother was a stage actress. I helped her memorize her lines, laced her into corsets, and attended countless rehearsals and performances. Thanks to such a theatrical childhood, I was introduced to an extraordinary musical which would have a lifelong impact on me: "The Phantom of the Opera."

Heartbreaking beautiful, Phantom is about a masked man living beneath the Paris Opera House and the young ingenue he desperately adores. I know every line and have had it memorized since I was a little girl of six years old. I knew one day I would create my own version, starring a powerful and sexy magician with a dark secret. And here it is!

If you are also a Phantom 'phan' then I hope you enjoy this book! Can you spot all of the Phantom references? I had such a fascinating and wonderful time writing this story.
