The Danger Signal: A Drama (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from The Danger Signal: A Drama
Moth. E. Oh, say it if you choose. You can no more hide your nature than the hyena can hide his.
Dr. (aside) I'd like to throttle her. (aloud) I forgot. I should have prefaced my question with a piece of money. (tries to put money in her hand.) Moth. E. (angrily sends money a flying.) I tell you I'm no fortune-teller. I make a decent living by my own efforts. I don't want your money.
Dr. (trying to conciliate.) All right! Never mind. My mis take was very natural, you know, Mother Foresight. I've heard that sometimes your prophecies are very remarkable.
Moth. E. My prophecies! I cannot prophesy. Presenti ments come to me. I cannot bring them at my call.
