I'm glad I picked it up for free. The book was very short. A short story, not a novel. It was predictable, and could have been much better. It was however fast paced and over before the lack of development became a big issue.

This is nothing more than an advertisement, with a few pages our of L R Hubbards larger book. You will be charged for receiving an advertisement, not a book. This is a short out take from a much larger pulp fiction novel that Hubbard wrote in his early days of writing in the science fiction era. I think Hubbard is a primo writer, and this was the current publishers doing. If this is the type of hype that Galaxy Press puts out, it will be my decision to never buy one of their products. I think that B&N has done a disservice to their trusting clients to allow this to be called a book.

I was glad that I downloaded this for free. It was a very short, quick read, one that a reader could feasibly read in under an hour. I had only previously read a couple of L Ron Hubbard's works and had mixed opinions of his work. I was pleasantly surprised by this. It was quick, surprisingly well developed story and characters. The idea of the equation in the story seems very original and is a thought provoking concept. The story seems rough and hard-boiled, which it gets from being published in the 1930's Pulp magazines while they were at their prime. A very interesting, entertaining read for anyone who likes the offbeat and has about an hour of free time.

But in the end, it was short and well liked. I can't really say why I rated it low for the details, because that's my opinion, but overall. A good, SHORT read for rainy days.
