How did this great story get overlooked by the movie and TV producers? The Dark Companion is better than 90% of the edgy vampire legend books and films out there. Better characters, better plot, better writing, great setting in Washington, and a reasonable premise for the vampire -- though that word is never mentioned. Valerian is a thinking-man's eternal hunter. After almost 600 pages, I was wishing for a sequel.
