Overview

Alicia's always known she's different--that she can recognize the mischievous fae when they show up to "play" with the humans. Only now she's faced with one highly annoyed dark fae and she's certain he knows the truth about her. She can see him, which means her life is forfeit.

Add to that, his sister arrives, who wants to play, too. And their mother, the queen of the Denkar, will want Alicia's head, once she learns what Alicia can do.

And all because Alicia was attempting to rescue her friend, Cassie, on their beach excursion at South Padre Island, from the wicked fae. Now, Alicia has really gone and done it--and she's thinking she should have let the fae have his fun. Her friend's broken heart would be a lot easier to deal with, than Alicia losing her life.

But it is too late for regrets. As soon as she threw the soda at the dark fae's chest, she had declared war on the fae. And he is happy to take up the challenge.

The Dark Fae: The World of Fae 4 out of 5 based on 0 ratings. 151 reviews.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love all things Fae. Heck, I even tease my daughters, telling them that my flower bed is a secret faerie garden. When asked by Terry Spears to review The Dark Fae, I jumped at the chance, not to be disappointed. I adored that part of the story took place at South Padre Island...I am from Texas after all, plus I adore the ocean. Deveron and Alicia were fun as guides in their crazy world. Alicia has always known she can see Fae but she has never known how deeply her sight is implanted in her. When she sees "the evil" dark fae flirting with her best friend, Alicia throws ice cold coke on him. I would have paid to see his face...especially since he is fae royalty. Deveron realizes immediately that there is something different about Alicia. Through several laugh provoking experiments, he figures out that she can see even invisible fae. It doesn't take him long to figure out she needs protection and he is the only one who can help; neither of them know exactly what they are getting themselves into. While I definitely enjoyed this fantastical tale, I didn't find the world as intriguing as I would have liked. There was something missing that didn't pull me deep into the story. The Dark Fae was a quick and fun story. I loved the interaction between Deveron, Alicia, and Ritasia (Deveron's sister). They were quirky, quick-witted, and exciting. *I was given an e-book copy of The Dark Fae by Terry Spear in exchange for my honest review.

I am very interested in most things Fae, so I was exited to find this. While I greatly enjoyed the story, however, the characters left much to be desired. As opposed to subtle and unique character development, the characters started off interesting and switched (very suddenly) to the cliche stereotypes that make me dislike most stories. It's a good (enough) read for those who enjoy bubble gum pop plot lines, happy endings, and two dimensional characters. I know that there are many people like that, and if you are one, then this is probably for you. If you prefer a more in depth and not-a-flavor-of-the-day read, then you should look elsewere.

I'm a fan of Terry Spear and this book was fun to read. It was fast paced with some great characters, making it hard to put down. Except for a timeline issue that was not adding up to me; this is a story that I'll definitely read again.

Fast paced, with hardly a dull moment. I always enjoy a new twist to faedom.

I agree with the strange timeline comment. I like a fast paced book but this one was too fast with no plot developement. Amateur writing. I most likely won't read anymore of her books.

Loved this book. Fairly fast read with a good story line and enticing characters. Just enough suspense and twists throughout the story to keep it interesting. I'd love to see a sequel.

Honestly, I'm disappointed with this book. I love stories with fae and romance, but this book was incredibly predictable. All the characters are underdeveloped! On top of that, the dialogue sounds immature-- so much so that I repeatedly found myself cringing. The story sounds as though it was written by a 12 year old! I could write a far more convincing story than this, and the author wants to charge $4 for barely more than 100 pages of non believable chemistry and completely predictable trash? No thank you. One second the main character Alicia dislikes the "love interest" dark fae Develon, the next they are kissing and head over heals for each other? Where is the build up? Where is the development? OVERALL THOUGHTS: Please do not waste your money on this book. Personally I am angry that I gave it a chance and I want my money back. I will never read this author's work again.

This is a combined effort book between Seqyn and ElectricAngel under the name ButterflyEffect, to simplify the title of the thingy. Lucy says happily.
"-at least four wizards required." Natsu finishes. He sees Lucy and Happy's hearts drop. "We could get Gray to go with us." He suggests.
"Aye!" Happy jumps up beind Natsu.
"Im not gonna get him. I saw him come in." Lucy shudders a bit. "There are some things a girl should wait to see." She says simply with her arms crossed.
"Natsu, you get him." Happy says with a fish in had. "Im eating." He makes an excuse.
"Fine." Natsu says and walks towards the bar and Gray.
Natsu taps Gray's shoulder and shouts. Cute fun story! I think teens would really like this book, for adults it needed more character development and I would have loved her to describe the fey world more. It was fast paced at the beginning, and the characters were stereotypical, but as another reviewer pointed out, by the end, while sweet, was a typical happy ending.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***Received a code from the author to listen to and review the audio version of the book. I do own this book in ebook form, but haven't read it yet (I definitely will in the future though!) The cover is awesome and beautiful, and I think it is intriguing to grab anyone’s attention. Listening to audiobooks is now something my son and I love to do together in the car. He even gets upset if we have to stop it for any reason, or if I forget to charge my ipod. I have collected quite a few audiobooks through the Sync program, and I have won some too, but until Terry asked me to listen and review them, I just hadn’t done it yet. Now that I have tried it, I’m addicted :) I love how strong Alicia is, and she sticks with her friends no matter what. Deveron (no idea if I’m spelling this right) is one of the guys you start out really wanting to smack, but he grows on you like moss :) lol At the end, I love his character too. The Fae are so fickle, and they do a lot of posturing like they are ….not evil but bullies I guess. Terry’s stories are always so enthralling when I read or listen to them :) This was my Audible review: Would you listen to The Dark Fae again? Why? Yes, it was fun and had lots of action :) Also my son really liked it, so it is great for car rides :) Who was your favorite character and why? Alicia was my favorite because she was courageous and didn't let fear dictate what she knew was right. She was fiercely loyal and protects her friends. I love strong female characters :) What about Jeanne Whitehouse’s performance did you like? I love how she had several voices she used. Listening to audiobooks takes some getting used to. So you definitely want to listen to several before you decide you do or don't like them. I will definitely listen to more of Jeanne Whitehouse's recordings of audiobooks :) Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Yes we both wanted to, but you know how things like work, school, and life tend to get in the way. I also had my car break down, and my grandma's car didn't have an adapter for my ipod....my son was not happy we had to wait a week to finish our story :) Any additional comments? Terry Spear is an awesome author, and I always enjoy her books. I will always get her books whether in audio or book format. She rocks!!

The Dark Fae by Terry Spear Two friends are on vacation on the lovely South Padre Island when one of them recognizes a dark fae. It’s not unusual for Alicia recognize the fae when they arrive to mingle with humans. Though she knows little about her personal history, she does know she’s part fae thanks to the father who abandoned her and her mother when Alicia was a toddler. Terry Spear has created an array of fascinating and compelling characters with this first book of The Dark Fae series. I quickly identified with Alicia since I’m adopted and still have gaps in my own history. But Alicia’s past becomes more than idle questions when she’s transported to the treacherous fae world and must hide or face the wrath of those who would kill a human invading their world. Terry created a wonderful fae world that pulls you into the story with ease. She has an array of characters and, like a good writer, often makes it difficult to know who friend or foe. If you enjoy fae stories like I do, you’ll love listening to or reading this one!

I was enthralled and enchanted by this lively fae story that moved fast and kept me riveted from beginning to the end. ***This is a review of the Audible edition*** I loved this! I was enthralled, enchanted and enamored by this lively fae story that moved fast and kept me riveted from beginning to the end. There just weren't any dull moments. The characters were fun and each was on a trip of self-discovery. This is a story that would be perfect for tweens and teens . But... it's not just for the young. I really enjoyed it, too, and I'm in my 60s. The characters shined! Alicia was raised as a human who could see the fae. All she knew about the fae royal kingdoms, she had learned from her father's journal. As she and her friend, Cassie, were vacationing on South Padre Island, Deveron, a dark fae. made a move on Cassie. Alicia literally pours cold water on him to put a halt to his shenanigans. Deveron decides that he will enjoy paying her back. He might be surprised, though, to find the tables turned on him. Within these pages, Alicia evolves from a wanna-be beach bunny to a feisty, resourceful, and strong heroine. Deveron begins as a cocky, egotistical fae who gets his kicks by playing games with innocent humans. I didn't like him at all at first. But... he executed a complete turn-around in the story to a caring, yummylicious hero. Ritasia was witty and I admired how she supported her brother and protected Alicia. The descriptions of scenes drew me right into the story. OMG! I wish I could travel like they do! The bantering and dialogue between Deveron, Alicia and Ritasia was humorous at times and always engaging. The romance between Deveron and Alicia gave me a warm and fuzzy glow. If I were Alicia, I'd never let go of him! If you listen to the audible version as I did, the narrator is very good. Her voice was clear and didn't distract me from the story. I like to listen to audibles while exercising. I can immerse myself so deeply in Terry's books, that I look forward to each session and I don't even feel the pain. Bottom-line: If you like to escape to magical fantasy worlds with fun romances, captivating characters and non-stop. entertaining adventure, rush to whatever bookstore you use, and buy this book now!
