Overview

Alicia's always known she's different--that she can recognize the mischievous fae when they show up to "play" with the humans. Only now she's faced with one highly annoyed dark fae and she's certain he knows the truth about her. She can see him, which means her life is forfeit.

Add to that, his sister arrives, who wants to play, too. And their mother, the queen of the Denkar, will want Alicia's head, once she learns what Alicia can do.

And all because Alicia was attempting to rescue her friend, Cassie, on their beach excursion at South Padre Island, from the wicked fae. Now, Alicia has really gone and done it--and she's thinking she should have let the fae have his fun. Her friend's broken heart would be a lot easier to deal with, than Alicia losing her life.

But it is too late for regrets. As soon as she threw the soda at the dark fae's chest, she had declared war on the fae. And he is happy to take up the challenge.

    A Quick Fun Read

Anyone who knows me, knows I love all things Fae. Heck, I even tease my daughters, telling them that my flower bed is a secret faerie garden. When asked by Terry Spears to review The Dark Fae, I jumped at the chance, not to be disappointed. I adored that part of the story took place at South Padre Island...I am from Texas after all, plus I adore the ocean. Deveron and Alicia were fun as guides in their crazy world.

Alicia has always known she can see Fae but she has never known how deeply her sight is implanted in her. When she sees "the evil" dark fae flirting with her best friend, Alicia throws ice cold coke on him. I would have paid to see his face...especially since he is fae royalty. Deveron realizes immediately that there is something different about Alicia. Through several laugh provoking experiments, he figures out that she can see even invisible fae. It doesn't take him long to figure out she needs protection and he is the only one who can help; neither of them know exactly what they are getting themselves into.

While I definitely enjoyed this fantastical tale, I didn't find the world as intriguing as I would have liked. There was something missing that didn't pull me deep into the story.

The Dark Fae was a quick and fun story. I loved the interaction between Deveron, Alicia, and Ritasia (Deveron's sister). They were quirky, quick-witted, and exciting.

*I was given an e-book copy of The Dark Fae by Terry Spear in exchange for my honest review.

    Good read

I'm a fan of Terry Spear and this book was fun to read. It was fast paced with some great characters, making it hard to put down. Except for a timeline issue that was not adding up to me; this is a story that I'll definitely read again.

    Self-publishing has its drawbacks

This is PubIt book and it shows. A good editor could definitely have helped the story here. The dialogue appears to have been written by a 92-year-old man who has never encountered a modern teenager and the story's world is undeveloped with too many one sentence resolutions. This appears to be an attempt at a new take on the fae but the universe isn't developed and doesn't read new (not like Julie Kagawa with her Iron Fey or Aprilynne Pike's plant-based creatures). But the characters - they're fun (if unpolished). If you're someone who reads for the characters and won't be distracted by awkward phrasing or simplistic storytelling, you'll likely enjoy this book. However, I have trouble believing the author's claim to conduct online writing courses.

    Enjoyable Read!

Loved this book. Fairly fast read with a good story line and enticing characters. Just enough suspense and twists throughout the story to keep it interesting. I'd love to see a sequel.

    Okay

I agree with the strange timeline comment. I like a fast paced book but this one was too fast with no plot developement. Amateur writing. I most likely won't read anymore of her books.

    Okay....

The story line was good. The characters were good. It was good. A quick read really. But it wasn't fabulous. I probably won't continue with the book series.

    Loved it!

This was a great read. I really enjoyed the characters and storyline. Highly recommend it! I realized this book is in a series but was disappointed to read about the second book and not recognize any characters from this book in the description for the second. I am not sure I will read more but hopefully I am wrong because I would love to read more surrounding these characters!

The Dark Fae was not at all what I expected but in a good way. The twists and turns with Alicia & Deveron's characters were very enteraining. I love to read about the Mischevious Fae and I look forward to reading more from Ms Spear!!! I highly recommend giving this one a try.
