Overview

What starts as an adventure for Sasha Mills turns into a terrifying fight for survival...
Emotionally blackmailed by the cold-footed fiancé she hasn't seen in a year, Sasha abandons her life in London to track him in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where he's teaching.
While in Bangkok, locals react strangely to her request to travel the following day, insisting it is a not a good day to travel despite numerous posters advertising buses running every day. Ignoring the warnings, Sasha assumes some kind of bank holiday and offers a large amount of money. She secures a seat on the solitary bus heading for Siem Reap.
Thrown together with a random group of international backpackers, including the handsome Josh, Sasha is no longer certain of what lies ahead as they cross the Cambodian border and the roads turn into dirt tracks.
Soon after, a storm like none she's ever witnessed before descended upon them. When one of their group disappears off the side of the road, Sasha realizes she has more than just the warnings of land mines to worry about.
One by one, the travelers lose their minds as they are plunged into the terrifying secrets of the Dark Road.

    Ever been backpacking?!!!

I've travelled to the places Marissa Farrar describes in this novel, and wow, does she do it well. This book totally captures the feeling of backpacking, while throwing in a terrifying, fast paced and well-written story. I loved the wide mixture of characters and as for the ending, well that just made the whole book!

    Brilliant Horror - Highly Recommended

This book takes place in Cambodia and for anyone who has travelled that area will be able to savour the smells and sights of the East, but, beware it is not for the faint hearted. There is something out there that waits for the travellers.

    Thrilling

11 people decided to travel on a day that is cursed, now they must figure out how to stop each one from disapearing one by one from something that is out there in the dark. This book keeps you intrigued and guessing, you dont want to put it down cause you cant wait to find out what is after these travellers, and why? Well worth the read if you like a good suspense thriller.

I am now terrified to go to Cambodia.

Seriously. The way this author has painted the images and people in my head brought them to life. I have always been slightly leery of legends and ancient stories. Its not because I think that they are true, its that they were based on something to get them started in the first place. Farrar captures fear and mental torture that makes me wonder if she has had some personal experience. Fear of the unknown is one of the worst fears to face and this small load of people dealing with something unknown and no way to fight it. Thats scary.

    Great read!

Really enjoyed this one. Read it after reading Alone, also by Marissa Farrar. Original story with interesting characters and a good pace. You can't go wrong!
