Overview

Like recovering from heart surgery beneath the gaze of his over-protective family isn't exasperating enough, someone keeps trying to break into Adrien English's bookstore. What is this determined midnight intruder searching for?

When a half-century old skeleton is discovered beneath the floorboards in the midst of Cloak and Dagger Bookstore's renovation, Adrien turns to hot and handsome ex-lover Jake Riordan -- now out-of-the closet and working as a private detective.

Jake is only too happy to have reason to stay in close contact with Adrien, but there are more surprises in Adrien's past than either one of them expects -- and one of them may prove hazardous to Jake's own heart.

Editorial Reviews

Wave Jessewave Reviews
Josh Lanyon's writing is skillful as always and his prose is among the best...Lanyon saves his best for last as his characters shine as never before. The Dark Tide did something that most series don't do well: it completed the series and character arcs in a way that made sense and did not compromise either. I can say from my perspective that whatever the author intended in terms of the emotional content of this story, he succeeded beyond my expectations."
Wayne Gunn
"Lanyon probably knows more about the gay mystery heritage than any other novelist. Here the spirit of Raymond Chandler's most homoerotic work, The Long Goodbye, hovers over The Dark Tide from epigraph to a final ironic twist on Chandler's own concluding lines."
Indigene Rainbow Reviews
"The Dark Tide" by Josh Lanyon was an exceptional reading experience for me, as was the entire Adrien English Mystery Series as a whole. I highly recommend "The Dark Tide" but only if you've read the preceding four books: "Fatal Shadows," "A Dangerous Thing," "The Hell You Say," and "Death of a Pirate King." I thank Mr. Lanyon for taking me on an incredible reading journey."

    Salty and sweet.

Another excellent read. A crime to solve, but more focused on the various relationships between Adrien and others..Lisa, Jake, Mel, Guy and others. Really cementing these folks as real people. Really looking forward to the next one in the series!

A Great End to the Series

I bought this after reading the previous four Adrien English mysteries. Loved them all. The series is well-written and full of humor. I am not a big reader of m/m stories but the romance in this series is very well done and believable. I will be looking for more of Josh Lanyon's work.

A great ending to a fantastic series.

This is the fifth book in the Adrien English series. While the mystery in this book isn't as compelling as in the previous books, Adrien's relationships with his family and his lovers--former and current--are the best parts of the story. In the end, Adrien's heart is mended, both physically and romanticly. I loved it!
