This was a great read. Personally I hate diets that are all about “tricking” your body into losing fat by doing something that sounds downright unhealthy. This diet is different though. It begins with an explanation of the medical trials that lead to the discovery of the diet’s numerous health benefits, including reducing hypertension. After that the book is broken up into sections with tips and guidelines for changing your lifestyle, how to start a workout program, as well as a whole BUNCH of yummy sounding recipes. Great value!

DASH for Heart Health The DASH diet can certainly help you lose weight - it wouldn't be much of a diet otherwise - but its focus is on decreased risk of diabetes, general heart health and lowering blood pressure. That's in the name: DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. This isn't some radical new diet, but rather one based on a National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) study from the 90s that is finally getting the recognition that it deserves. I won't lie and tell you that this is an easy diet. It takes a bit to get started, including a bit of math homework to determine your Body Mass Index and a few other vital statistics, and when I saw that butter was nixed from the menu I nearly cried. For the sake of my heart, however, I suppose I can crunch a few numbers, while Chatham's meal plans and recipes allow for some delicious dishes, ranging from the simple to the extravagant to fit any schedule. He even sneaks in a few cheats - because he understands that we all need to indulge from time to time!

My father was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and once I learned the DASH diet was rated number one for combating the disease, I’ve been searching for the right book to introduce to my dad. Chatham’s is the best resource I’ve found, so far. You are instructed how to slowly ease into the diet, using the tools included, like worksheets, reference tables, food guides, menu planners, and of course, plenty of recipes. It’s informative, providing plenty of background information on how the DASH diet was created and tested, and also stresses the importance of exercise and fitness, including fitness plan. Most important, to me and my dad, is that Chatham’s book is really reader friendly and easy to follow.

A Diet With Proven Results! The DASH diet health plan is a clearly written guide on how to lose weight, lower blood pressure and live an over-all healthier lifestyle. The science behind the diet is explained and actual research results are given. The book gives easy steps to personalize this diet to your current weight and health situation. The lists of foods that you are allowed is extensive and the recipes included in the back of the book look delicious. I cannot wait to start this diet!

I found the Dash Diet exceptional in its simplistic approach to following a healthy, low-sodium diet with excellent menu choices, which will reduce stress as well as cholesterol and inevitably excess fat. The book includes delicious recipes as well as varied daily menus, and explains why processed foods and certain items are preferred, while others are discouraged. As those with high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol  are searching for intelligent and helpful menus to combat health issues, this book is a "must read".

 The Dash Diet for Beginners is an excellent guide for anybody who’s interested in living a more healthy lifestyle. With 150 recipes, a meal plan, and a step-by-step guide to having a healthier diet, the Dash Diet is something that can be appreciated by newcomers and seasoned veterans alike!

The Dash Diet is the best cookbook for those of us who need to lower our blood pressure and lose weight. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are amazing recipes that a non cook can easily prepare. The Southwestern Salmon was really good but the loaded Turkey sandwich with cranberries was amazing. Really easy to follow recipes that make you look like a super star chef. You must get this cook book.

The DASH Diet Health Plan will definitely help you lose the weight you have wanted to lose! This book comes with everything you could want with a book about diets; it’s got a list of sample menus for fourteen days and even a sheet to help you figure out your Body Mass Index. And with this plan, the book gives you a list of the foods you can still have, including dark chocolate and your favorite vegetables!. The recipes are also enjoyable and I’d recommend everyone try them whether for diet or not!

I thought that this was a program someone can graduly enter. Thisbook recommends strong 100% start.. My husband has a sensitive digestive system. I hope my perception is wrong about the program.

I think this book really does provide good recipes for someone who suffers from either diabetes or just wants to boost their overall health. This book provides lean and delicious food recipes. This book is not a diet r3eally it is a way of eating healthier. It focuses on not loosing fat but adding healthy fats and low sodium foods. It teaches one to stop eating processed and chemically dangerous products .I really enjoyed reading this book and seeing all the endless possibilities of great healthy recipes. This book really educated me on what our body needs and how beneficial it is for us to stay healthy.

All the information in this book is readily accessible for free. Or you could just ask a doctor and they'd easily summarize the gist of this book: eat sensibly and exercise constantly. The "average American" is awful. If you didn't know that already this book can help, but don't let that be the end of your research. As it is, this book omits important nutritional information (how about a comprehensive chart?) so its value is more inflated than it appears.

Eating healthy for people with high blood pressure, hypertension or diabetes doesn’t have to be difficult or break the bank. It also doesn’t have to be boring and this book is proof! Always be sure to check with your doctor before changing your diet if you’re on medications for blood pressure, diabetes or cholesterol. This diet is not a miracle cure. Please continue to keep up with your medical conditions with your doctor!

“The DASH Diet Health Plan’s” claims are difficult to believe, yet scientifically proven. I was amazed that these delicious recipes and the simple, 28-day fitness plan could give such rapid results in lowering blood pressure and positively impacting Type 2 Diabetes. And it’s not just that the authors are fabricating such random claims, this book is backed up by several years of documented research at five of the nation’s most respected medical institutions. More than a purchase, this is an investment in my health!

This is a good book for anyone who want to learn more about dieting without starving yourself.  The book comes with some great recipes with plenty of healthful tips and info for choosing a variety of foods with good nutrition for easy dieting.  The book is especially good for those who have health condition such as high blood pressure.  I don't care for dieting but as I get older I am forced to realize some harsh realities when it comes to proper dieting.  You are what you eat.  And if you learn to eat smart you will live a longer more productive life.  This book is great for both beginner and advanced dieters in my opinion.

This book is a complete diet plan with the 14-day menu planner as well as the 28-day fitness plan. Its indulgent menu would satisfy any craving for unhealthy habits. The full menu also includes room for snacks and dessert such as cookies and cakes. That will still allow you to enjoy eating and have a desirable health.

Great book for those looking to improve their health through the DASH diet. Sample meal plans, recipes, step-by-step guides to calculating your BMI/BMR, foods to embrace/avoid, and much more, guide you through adopting the diet. Best of all the writing is straightforward and it's easy to navigate on an electronic device. DASH isn't so much a 'diet' as it is a way of eating to maintain your health. With the help of the book, I'm ready to get started!

This book does a great job of simplifying ideas and terms and helping you understand exactly what the Dash Diet is, why it's good for you, and how to follow the diet easily!  I love how it provides so many different resources: meal plans, recipes, shopping list ideas, and even a workout plan!  Will be using this book on a regular basis.

If you are looking for a great guide to the DASH diet and enjoy delicious food, look no further. So many DASH diet books focus primarily on the “hows” and “whys” of the DASH diet and put too little effort into the selection and refinement of meal plans and recipes. This book expertly covers the “hows” and “whys” and also gives a 5 star meal plan with some of the most delicious DASH diet recipes I’ve ever tried. Great tasting recipes are CRITICAL to maintaining the diet and a healthy lifestyle. My only complaint is there are just 14 days worth of recipes and find myself wishing for a few more so I can mix up my meal plan a bit more.  Thankyou so much for this book!

The Dash Diet is a well organized diet book. It has many things going for it including information for working out. The book lays out everything in a way that is easy to digest, and covers the who, what, why, and how of The Dash Diet. It is a book that you can read in a few hours, and be happy that you did so. The recipes alone are worth the cost of the book.

This is a very comprehensive book for understanding the Dash diet.  It focuses on reducing sodium and bad fats in your diet.  It includes plenty of meal plans, recipes, and even exercise routines.  It references advice from reputable medical research institutions and delivers a lot of useful advice.  This is a good book that I highly recommend.

The DASH diet provides a ton of useful information regarding the health benefits to people suffering from high blood pressure, heart disease and other common ailments that many of us suffer from. I loved the sample recipes and the specific shopping lists, which make it easy to follow the diet. I highly recommend this book!
