Overview

The Dawn Of A New Day is a collection of poems that bring insight and awareness to everyday living. These poems are shared experiences of how the world looks through the eyes of someone who got a second chance in life.

I share my rebirth to a new day and all the wonders that came with it. The sharing of daily experiences from the hardship of the aged, the dreams of the young – to Veterans and their story, and how time – or should I say “How Old Father Time” waits on no one. The principles that some are judged by and the morals others live by. But through prayer and faith in the Lord – He will continually bring us through to that “Dawn Of A New Day”.

I thought this would be a befitting title to follow my previous book “After The Storm Is Over”, because after the storm, “The Dawn Of A New Day”, brings calmness and growth. All praises to God, for the same one who holds “The Heavens” in place - Also guides “Our” steps. I pray that these poems will inspire, bless and comfort you.

My goal is to share the goodness of God through poetry. My favorite verse in the bible is "The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear".

THE NATURE OF MAN

Have you ever wondered
The way of "Life" people choose to "Live"
Some just want to "take" and "take"
Others choose to "give"

I've placed them in "three categories"
Ordinary people who are in our midst
I'm sure if you'd think about it
You could probably write a list

There are the "Takers"
Hands are always out in need
Have more than many
But they have an insatiable greed

There are the "Givers"
They give from the "heart"
If not shown appreciation
Its their "heart" that is torn apart

Then there are the "Neutral"
Oh, they will give when they can
Hate to really bother folks
But will gladly lend a hand

They have one "Motto"
I've decided to follow it - Yes I will
I will do for others
But first I will "Live and Let Live"

In this I find new meaning - New insight - Yes I do!
Stop knocking and talking about others
If you want to help its up to you

ESCAPE-GOAT

Why do so many people shift the blame
Pass the buck - it all equals the same
To except the wrong - for what you have done
Seems to be so hard for many - and definitely for some

Never owning up to the "errors" of our lives
Saying it wasn't my fault - when you know that's a lie
Placing the "fault" on someone else
When you know - no ones the blame but yourself

Now surely you know that's not the "Godly" way
To live despicably, deceiving yourself every day
Not once having the courage just to admit
I'm sorry - it was an accident - just that easy - that's it

Its not so hard to tell the truth
But once you start a lie - you live in "reproof"
The "reproof" of another lie to cover the first
In the end it’s enough "lies" - to fill this universe

So lets just keep things simple - by telling the truth
That way you don't need any reproof
You can't fool yourself - or God you see
You're damming yourself and will pay the penalty

When you shift the blame - it’s the same as a lie
It will surely catch up with you - by and by
If not in this life - then on "Judgment Day"
You can't give "God" excuses - what would you say

Aahh, Aahh - it wasn't my fault
He's not going for that - you're busted, you're caught
Caught in your web of lies - Steadily shifting the blame
You may as well hold back the tears - in "Hell" it don't rain

So confront your fears
Start telling the truth today
You will be a better person
By bridling what you say
